Henry Model H001 jamming

Has anyone found that thier Henry 22 lever action jams if the action is not worked fast enough. Thr round seems to pop up and jam at the top of the receiver. I have had the problem on one purchased in Nov 2011. I cannot duplicate the problem on my friends six year old Henry. Have they made some changes in production?

sometimes, mostly with shorts.

Don't think it is a production change thing, just an oddity of that style of lever action. You won't damage the lever, and it isn't loud compared to firing a shot, just work it briskly to get everything running as designed.

It works fine with shorts. It seems to be with more recent production. Problem confirmed by gunsmith who is Henry dealer. He arranged for me to send it back to the factory again. Henry has given it thier best shot so far, unfortunately they have not fixed the problem.

Well, the Stingers that you have in your picture have a tad longer case than a standard 22RF. That might have something to do with it. My Henry has fed everything from shorts to shot-shells and everything in between though.

Sometimes a decent cleaning and light lube on things will work wonders.

I have tried standard Federal, Winchester bulk pack, Remington Vipers and another high velocity Remington round, CCI 22 minimags. All jam in the same manner when the action is slowly cycled. How old is your Henry, I think it depends a lot of when they were made. I have found that Henrys 5 years old do not have the problem I encountered.

I bought my Henry new about 7-8 years ago.

My less than one year old Henry chambers just fine regardless of if I snap the lever or cycle it with glacial like slowness.
