A friend gave me an old 22 to see if I can clean it up and find a set of grips for it. It seems a little loose, is it possible to get the timing adjusted on it. On the bottom of the grip frame it says FIE made in Germany.

First off we have to figure out what you have

When Herbert Schmidt was in business they were in Ostheim, West Germany.

They made three REALLY cheap .22 Long Rifle Handguns

From what I have read there was the Model 11 Target with adjustable sights and a 5.5 barrel

There was the Model 11, the Liberty 11, and E-6 (this was a Double action revolver with a 2.5 inch snubbie barrel)

There was also the Frontier Model or AKA:Texas Scout

Quite frankly, any money you would spend on grips or repairs would be more than the gun is worth. No gunsmith will touch those guns for that reason and because of the liability if he fixes the gun and it blows up, injuring the shooter.

I strongly suggest considering the gun a relic or saving it for a buyback program if your area is infested with that particular silliness.

Get creative with some JB Weld. You just might impress yourself.

Disassemble it and some judicious hammer blows on the ratchet hand will give it height. Go light and be persistent as is might take a few times.
