Here’s a new Labradar

Yeah, competition! It seemed like it was time for LabRadar to provide an update. Garmin may have timed their product launch a little better, though. I'd been thinking of buying a LabRadar for years, but the Garmin came out and I got one for Christmas (it came in today). Will be interesting to see how the two compare and how the new LR sells. But I'm (hopefully) out of the market for several years at least.

I'll have an opportunity in March at the latest (if not before) to run my Garmin side by side with the LabRadar LX. Scuttlebutt around would-be users remain concerned that the integrated sight indicates that the unit is still finicky about aiming. I don't have much word on triggering either - it's a bit bigger (a lot deeper) than the Garmin, but it does retain the 100yrd downrange velocity opportunity. Give or take the same price for similar products - it brings LR back into the mix.

I WILL say - I'm intrigued enough to want to buy one, and considering my current plan for my 4 existing chorny's - using my Garmin, giving away my LR, selling my ProChrono, and keeping my V3 as a backup to my Garmin MIGHT change to selling my V3 and keeping the Garmin and LR-LX as my go-to units. My son might need a rifle mounted chrony sooner than later anyway.

You’re welcome to send me your LabRadar, I’ll give it a good home. I need a new unit as my pro chrono has spent a couple too many -30 winters in the barn.

Sorry amigo, it's already been claimed. A good buddy I grew up with through college, but hadn't seen for almost 20yrs, reconnected a handful of years ago and started shooting PRS matches. We've gotten him slowly ramped up with reloading gear and retrofitting his Bergara, but he was still reliant on borrowing my chrony until I bought this Garmin. We've been sub-freezing for a couple of weeks and we've entered "calving and mud season" here in KS, and I'm full swing coaching wrestling, so we've been a bit busy, but he's gonna take over my Orange billboard once we thaw out again.

See, I like competition.

I wonder how much prices would drop here, even if China was only allowed to import ammunition on a 1:1 basis with electronics?...

Also why I pass on 1st gen gadgets a lot of time. You never find out the bad from reviews until the next gen is out. ;)
