I want a laser/light combo for a Glock 21SF. My criteria are the following:
-Must be able to be attached/deattached without needing to rezero laser.
-Must be waterproof.
-Must be fogproof.
-Must be shockproof.
-Light must be at least 130 lumens.

I am really looking at the Steamlights and Surefire. However, I have heard that the TLR-2 and TLR-2S Streamlights are not waterproof. Also, I do not know if the Streamlights can attach and deattach without the laser losing zero.

What are my options? Thanks.

Well I'll throw a couple of things I've found FWIW...I'm replacing some of my Insight M6X units with Streamlight TLR-2s units-can't help you on Surefire-just too darn expensive for me!
1. Haven't noticed 'em losing zero when mounting multiple times
2. I know the Insight is waterproof, but to what depth I don't know (I don't plan on dunking any of 'em)
3. I'm upgrading mainly for the Streamlight LED over the Insight incandescent-I like the white light better than the yellowish tint of the Insight-the LED runs 2.5 hrs vs 1 hr on the same batteries.
4. They're a little elusive on info-you have to get the TLR units with the strobe feature in order to get the 160 lumen light. I called to ask if this was 160 lumens in strobe only, and was told it was 160 lumens in the constant on mode (I'm still not sure).
5. For quick installation/removal, I kinda like the Insight system better? You just push the button and snap it on. With the Streamlight, you do the same, but after installing you have to take a coin and snug it down.
6. The Insight has an adjustment tool built into the unit for storage-nice not having to scrounge up an allen to adjust!
7. Think I like the on/off switch of the Streamlight better? It's just a toggle switch, and it's easy to remember which position for what light (although it has no off position). The Insight has a rotary switch-not as intuitive, but it does have an off position.

HTH?

none of the lights on the market are truely "waterproof" they may have a water resistant to XXX ft but its just like watches no such beast as waterproof

the surefires viridians streamlight TLR-2S (my personal favorite and own one of those) and insights will all fit your bill except water proof as far as i know non of them are recommended for submersive use but i can take a guess that almost any can be dunked at least a few feet before shorting out

if you zero to around 10 yards non of them will lose zero within a tollerance but dont expect a perfect on the laser hit everytime you remove the device it will be a rough guide not a locked on perfect aim unless you mount and leave it on
fogproof shockproof and 130 lumens are covered by all the major brands

the problem with lasers is that people expect it to be a magic line that the bullet follows when in reality its just a reference for a specific hit point at a specific distance the rest is up to the shooter think of it just like zeroing a mildot scope and at 100 yards your on the crosshairs well at 200 yards you may be on the next "dot" down etc the laser is just giving you a reference for longer shorter shots and thats all

may i ask exactly what you intend the device for? your looking at some pretty rough useage from what ive gathered

I intend to mount a sound suppressor on a Glock 21SF. I do not want to have to find super tall sights. I feel that a light/laser combo would allow me to still fire sighted shots with a laser and would also provide the added benefit of a light and laser.

i can understand that but why the super ruggedness?

i have a streamlight TLR-2s on my 1911 and other than the waterproof thing (which im not worried about because im not swimming with my gun) it holds up to all the abuse i put it through which is alot other than swimming lol

ive shot in heavy rain and never even a flicker and of course it takes heavy abuse from "playing in the woods" let alone just recoil
