I have a Heritage Rough Rider that comes with the extra cylinder in .22 magnum. Other models were sold in long rifle only. My question is can I use that cylinder to upgrade any model to . 22 Magnum or are only certain models made to handle the . 22 magnum load?

You should be good to go as long as they are both the same amount of shots. Just don't try to use a 6 shot cylinder in a gun made for 9 shot or vice versa, it won't work correctly. I have a friend who had purchased the regular 22lr version of the gun, my wmr cylinder worked in his gun, so he went online and brought one and has been using it without fail for several years now.

ask Heritage. I remember reading about timing and some revolvers with both cylinders you can not just swap the cylinders between firearms of the same type due to timing issues. well, you probably could, but the manufaturer of at least one that I have says very clearly not to. no idea what Heritage has to say on it, but I'd certainly see what they say, maybe they say it is fine and then no worries.

They don’t say anything about fitting them on their website.

Looks like a mag cylinder is $38 or one of each for $49.

I guess I wasn't clear in the post. I already have the .22 mag cyl that came with the model I bought.I was just wondering if I buy another model that doesn't come with the .22 Mag can I use my .22 mag cylinder in that gun?

I was wondering this as well. Typically.22 LR rifling is a little tighter than .22 Magnum. Heritage must cut all barrels to .22 Magnum to save money & manufacturing resources.

I would call them to be sure.

I contacted Heritage by chat first she wanted to know the serial number of the gun and where I bought it. I said "come on this is just a simple yes or no.is it interchangeable or is it not"she typed back yes it is interchangeable" why does everybody have to make things so complicated

Btw I didn't know that Heritage was owned by Taurus. after my chat I got an email from Taurus asking me if I was satisfied with my chat inquiry

Obviously she doesn’t know that there are differences in rifling between the rounds. “Complicated” is what happens with over pressure and firearms.

I think you're right about them rifling all the barrels for .22 magnum that would make sense. it would also save them from possible legal ramifications
