Herrett's Custom Bill Jordan Trooper grips- Yea or Nay?

My Redhawk is a 7½ inch Hunter (KRH44R) with a Leupold 2x EER mounted over the barrel. I have gone through the factory rosewood and several aftermarket rubber grips without getting really comfortable. I am about to risk the $100+ on the custom Herrett Jordan Trooper grip. Input from anyone owning the Jordan Trooper grip or any Herrett custom grip would be appreciated.

I don't own any Jordan stocks, but have bought plenty of other stocks from the good folks at Herrett's over the years. They're definitely worth the cost and wait.

Huck, Buy the grips. I believe you will treasure them. I have them for both single action and double action revolvers. They are the best IMHO. I have and have shot many styles and makes. Bill Jordan's design that Steve Herrett was authorized to make and I think Steve's son still does is definitely my choice.

All Jordan designed stocks are for large hands so can we assume you have extra large hands?
For best fit ya oughta mail in a drawing of your shooting hand to thew stock maker.

Yes, I have large hands, and, if I read the Herrett site correctly, the grips can only be made with two hand outlines, one done with the hand resting lightly on the paper and one with the hand pressed firmly on the paper (actually, just a second line added to the relaxed outline. The compression provides a "where’s the beef?" reference. ) I wouldn’t think of risking that C-note and not jumping through all the customization hoops.

I have not used Herrett's Jordan grips, but Herrett's has a stellar reputation.

I have used a set of Pachmayer Jordan style grips on a 4" S&W 25 in .45 Colt. I like the Jordan style WAY better than the S&W factory "target" stocks.

Yes, I use the Herrett Jordan Trooper stocks on all my S&W M629 .44 mag revolvers. Have purchased six sets of such grips and currently own/shoot four. Can't shoot two shots with std stocks without tears coming to my eyes. The hump at top rear of S&W grip hits right on top of a small bone at base of my right thumb. EXTREMELY painful! Replacing factory grips with Herrett Jordan's completely solves problem. I have shot upwards of 100+ full power loads in one shooting session with no discomfort using the Jordan's. My hands are not that large. I usually tell Herrett to leave the grips a little large since I sand them down to fit like I want and refinish them anyway. I think you will like them. That smooth rear curve really takes the painful bite out of full power loads.

Please let us know how it goes. My hands are medium, and I've thought about ordering the Jordan grips for my Redhawk. The thing that disturbs me a little is the photographs of Bill Jordan in his book, "No Second Place Winner".
Look at the size of his hands!

Anyway, it would be good to hear how the grips work out for you.
By the way, Jordan's book is terrific, well worth having.

I have paws as well and bought a used set of Herrett's Jordan Troopers on a business trip. Funny thing is, I still haven't mounted them on a gun yet becuase they are for a K-frame SW and I don't own one. The grips feel great by themselves though and they were not custom made for me.
