Depending on legality ( I'm no expert on CT laws) you can get a "tacticool" 500 I believe it's called the 500 tactical. Shells are fairly cheap too.
If what he's referring to is the same/basically the same (and I'm pretty sure it is,more or less) as my Mossberg 590 (9rd tube, ghost ring sights, synth speed-feed stock, bayonet lug, and corrosion resistant finish (of what specific type, i'm not sure)), then I got mine for like $450 OTD, just as a referance for you.
here's a pic of it to show you what I (we're?) talking about.Note: I had to buy the light, sling (but not the sling swivels) and bayonet separate, the rest is all the "stock" stuff it came with.

foxx - I like the look of that (I probably won't need a bayonet though...lol)

Is there any way to get one with a pistol grip? (but I still want a full stock)

I mean I guess it all comes down to going to a store heh. Thanks for all the help guys:cool:

In the future, technology will allow manufacturers and retailers to provide brochures online where people can read specifications, view pictures of available models, and fnd all kind of interesting product information without leaving their homes. Until then, we are stuck with the internet: http://www.mossberg.com/

Hey...that's like...HEY!:scrutiny:

EDIT:

I've been poking around and I like these:

It looks pretty, but it doesn't seem to come in a stock that looks more like this:

I don't like the look of the extendable stock - I know it's pretty much just looks, but I'm picky. Heh.

Also, these seem like they're at decent prices - under $500. What's the catch?

EDIT 2:
Is there something along the lines of an ACOG reflex sight for shotguns?
Or an AimPoint?

Or am I putting my foot in my mouth by asking about shotgun sights? :p

Get a hunting license- the hunter safety course is free, it takes up a weekend, but it's free, you'll learn some good stuff. The license is $20 a year from your town clerks office (or from another autherized agent). Even if you never hunt, it's worth it to get a hunting license because this spares you from the 14 day waiting period (once you get your pistol permit you can use that to avoid the 14 day waiting period).

The NRA has Associate Memberships for $10- you get a membership card, no magazine. For $25 you can get a full membership- with magazine. There's a link in the group by forum. If you can't find it, PM me, I believe that I have a discount card from an NRA Store order or something that I could mail you- I should have it around here somewhere, but no promises.

We do have a pesky assault weapons ban in Connecticut. There is a list of named models that are verbotten as are Mac-types, Thompson-types, and AK-47 types (7.62x39 AK's are illegal, all the other calibers are good to go). The good thing is, hi-cap mags are perfectly legal. However, we do have an evil features ban- same as the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons ban.

I recommend against buying a shotgun as your first gun. Look into a rifle. I recommend getting a .22 rifle if you don't have much shooting experience (or get an AR in 5.56mm and a Ceiner .22LR kit to complement it). Unless you hunt or shoot clays, the shotgun won't get shot much- especially if it is a defensive shotgun.

Gunnerpalace- you would be surprised about what some of our state's SOT's are capable of. I've seen Connecticut legal full-auto only modified versions of most all of those select fire weapons. Some of them can even be undone easily when you return to Free America.

Ok I'm thinking of getting the 8-shot mossberg for $364 and then buying a stock later.

Or maybe buy the Remington Speedfeed? It's ~$200 more - anyone here have both and can tell me if it's worth it? I'm leaning towards the Mossberg now, just because of the price. However, I've got enough for either. I'd like a nicer gun, but if it's a brand-name issue it's not like any of my friends have guns so it's not worth the bragging rights.

Or is the Mossberg vs. Remington debate older than I am and I should just flip a coin? :p

tl;dr
I'd like a nice gun, but I don't know if the Remington is actually worth it.

Yeah, the bayo is because it was cheap, and it makes babies and anti's quiver and cry.....both of which, in-turn, make me smile, so.....

ok, I was kidding about the babies, but the other part is true.:neener::D

If you are leaning towards a tac-shotgun, I would tell you to spend a little more and get a Remington 870. If the USMC trusts it then I feel pretty certain that you can trust it too.
