Hello, crew.

I was a poster in a different forum (to be left nameless) for 6 years until I decided to fire myself.

Haven't posted much on any gun forums for the last several months, but I thought I'd check in here.

Question about The AK Files: I joined over there to get a handle on a problem I'm having with an AK clone, and while my membership was accepted, I can't seem to post, send a PM to any admins, or anything.

What's up with that place? Are they on some kind of lock-out or something?

Welcome!

Sorry, but I don't know much about the goings-on over there. You might want to try posting your question in the rifle forum to see if anyone here can help.

grreeknick, the AK Files has had a bad spammer problem recently, and as such as instituted an "activated by admin" signup procedure. Be patient, and you'll be online over there.

benEzra, both of those forums suffer from "money talks (to the owner)" syndrome.

IOW, their owners are motivated by money, and this does not benefit their community.

The AK Files does not have these issues.

I hate to bring an old thread back to life, but I am having the same problem over at AK FIles, joined 5 days ago, still don't have approval to post, and since I can't post there I can't ask what is going on.

I used to spend a bit of time there.

Big time flame wars are very popular.

There is some technical info, though.

I tried to join AK Files months ago. IIRC AK Files requires you to give the email address assigned to you by your ISP, then reviews your request for several days, maybe longer. I don't think you'll be able to do much there without the email provided by your ISP besides maybe look at a few threads, then they'll probably boot you off the site altogether. That was all I managed. I have no idea what email addy my ISP provided me and didn't bother to look into it. I got accepted on a hotmail addy, though all I could do was read threads, then got booted after a few days or a week, thereabouts. Fortunately I was able to find most of the info I was looking for at various other sites.
I also heard they were having a lot of trouble with bots there, and that was why they're being so picky.

I gave them my work email address, so maybe that will at least send me an email to see if I am legit, there seems to be some good archived content there if only I had access to the search feature, it is not looking hopeful though since it has been almost a week since I joined.

ARF come is the same way. They make you use a non-free email address (NO gmail, hotmail, etc).

I had to use my school email since it was the only one I had that wasn't a free service (even though it is powered by gmail) except my work email which I am not allowed to use for anything outside of work (plus anti-gun company policies).

Am a "peaceful" person and do not frequent sites that condone or allow personal attacks and such. Besides that, if you do not agree with my viewpoint you are obviously very wrong, misinformed, and need your head examined--lol. I appreciate the guidelines here at THR-shows the character of the owner/mods.

Folks,

We don't comment on other forums so that we can avoid interforum wars. Since we don't operate any other forums we don't know much about their inner workings so can't provide much help with other peoples' houses.

If you have a historical or technical question about firearms feel free to ask the question in the applicable forum here.
