I am gathering up the stuff I need to shoot cowboy type loads through an 1858 with a conversion cylinder in 45 Colt. I have found brass and dies, already have primers and Trail Boss. I do not have any purpose made molds for 45 LC, just 45 ACP molds. I was planning on trying a modest charge of Trail Boss and the Lee copy of the HG 68 bullet, a 200 grain SWC. Intended for 45 ACP, this has no crimp groove. Is this likely to present any problems in a very low end load of 5.5 to 6.0 grains of trail boss?

You could taper crimp on the body of the bullet to remove the flare of the case mouth or light roll crimp over the shoulder of the SWC.

I've used plated bullets in the large caliber guns with mild loads with a taper crimp and they have worked very well. There is no reason cast bullets with a taper crimp would not work as well.
