I have been saving up for a while for a new 45ACP handgun and I almost have enough for a new HP 45ACP JHP. I don’t think I will ever get a HP carbine because I already filled what would have been the carbine’s role with other firearms. I like the 45 ACP model over the 40 S&W model because it uses a lower pressure cartridge, the ability to use FMJ ammunition effectively has PD, and the ability to use modified 1911 magazines.

Any reason I should get a 40 S&W over a 45 ACP?

I would also say get the .45 as the biggest problem with hi points is the mags and you can modify 1911 mags so you should be good to go.

I don't think pressure is going to hurt the hi point in any cartridge. I had a C9 that I put about a 100 or more 60k psi reloads through and it ate them just fine, more than any market 9mm ammo would have and about the same as a double charge.

If all you did was feed that Hi point Hot .45 super ammo it would probably last just as long and if it doesn't hi point will always fix it for free. Good luck

I'd get the 45 theres no real world advantage with the 40s&w, except ammo is sometimes more available in a panic like the one we are just getting over ,but I wouldn't buy a gun just because of what ammo you can get at the time. Anyways after you get your 45 start saving again because you'll want a 9mm too, I just waiting for them to put out a 10mm.

40 sw is always in stock along with reloading stuff. I would lean towards 40 because of the ammo situation

I consider magazine capacity to be a potential real world advantage. In the case of the High Points, I believe its only a one round difference though. In some firearms, its more.

To answer your question, "no" there is no reason to get the JCP over the JHP.

The .45 has a much better reputation than the .40 among Hi-Point aficionados.

All three of my sons have the 40 both pistol and carbine and like them. Plus, the ammo is available ,normally cheaper and magazines interchangeable . Bad side, they are snappy.

The .40 and .45 both use the same frame for the pistol, so size and weight isn't a factor.
Magazine capacity is negligible, a difference of one round as said above.
I had the .45, and since it was what I could afford at the time, it was a good gun. But you may be happier in the long run if you save your money and get something else. I had no regret selling the Hi Point .45 after I got a better gun. You have other guns, so the need for the Hi Point doesn't strike me as overly high on the priorities list.
