Hi Point 995, 9mm Carbine, What's Not To Like?

I bought a Hi-Point 995, 9mm carbine 3 weeks ago, and had 2 range sessions with it so far. The gun now has 500 rounds through it without a hitch.

I bought the gun for a "plinker only" since I don't hunt, and have only shot it at 50 yd. targets with impressive results.

The gun cost me $229 out the door with a scope (not mounted yet) and really is fun to shoot. It may not be the prettiest gun, but it is a lot of fun for the money and cheap to shoot.

How do you like yours?

i like them to. i am waiting for the new 45acp version. they say it will be ready this spring. i hope this is true. as far as whats not to like? im not sure why people knock them. my friends have both 9 and 40 smith, and they shoot fine, i dont remember them jamming ever.and for $250 i think its a fun tin can killer. there built cheap and there sold cheap.

They are good little guns.
I will say,don't make one a "trunk gun" in the summer!!!!!
Might hold up better in an ATI stock,but the OEM one gets
"very soft" from the heat.

That has to be some pretty weak plastic to melt in a trunk. I HAVE heard reliably of plastic pistols left on dashboards of older cars or cars with cheap replacement glass melting into Salvador Dali subjects under the ultraviolet.

Yeah I love that tupperware stock. It s like they went out of their way to make an ugly cheap feeling rifle. In all honesty though it is a tough little accurate thing. Though there is that guy that pops up every now and then talking about all the 995 he has witnessed blow up. I liked mine but sold it to buy a Saiga 12.

I've never seen such a claim ever substantiated with actual proof.

Really for the money I agree but there are some things I didn't like about mine. The plastic trigger and stock were just awefull (but functional). The low cap mags (10rnds) not enough fun between mag changes. The pot metel it's blowback guts are made out.

Now I'm not saying this is a bad design. They work fine but the quality of the materials is cheap. I'm sure that adds to the low price point.

Great plinker for the money!
