I just purchased a 995 today and would like to know what is more accurate out of the rifle. I'm looking for brands, bullet type and weight.

I know every rifle is different, but this will give me a start in narrowing it down.

Thanks

I have been just using whatever 9mm ball ammo thats on hand in mine. Plenty of accuracy for normal plinking ranges. Cant tell much difference between brands, all of it seems to shoot decent.

Have never tried any hollowpoints or anything like that in it.

I load for all my guns. I have found the full length jacketed bullets to feed the best in it. I use 124 gr Ranier over 4.3 gr Win 231. Good accuracy, no problems feeding or extracting just plain fun to shoot.

I just use the 115gr hardball WWB in the 100-round box from Wally World. I can't even mail order ammo cheaper than I can buy it there. I find it makes good rabbit ammo...Puts a rabbit down with less meat damage than a .22 hollowpoint.

For HD, I use 115gr Winchester silvertip HPs.

I have owned my 995 for about 5 years and it has never failed to fire or to eject and I have used some questionable ammo. I mainly use the cheapest that I can find and reserve my better ammo for my hand guns because they are more finicky than my hi-point. Hope you enjoy your hi-point. I have really enjoyed mine. By the way, where did you get it and how much did you pay? The reason that I ask is because they are getting pretty hard to locate around here.

I've used all kinds of ammo in mine (FMJ, JHP, lead reloads) and it doesn't seem to make any difference to the gun. They all feed fine (with factory magazines) and give about the same accuracy (around 3" @ 50 yards 5-6" @ 100). Zeroed for 50 yds just about any 115-124 grain ammo hits about 5" low at 100 yards.

995's, and hi points in general will eat anything you put in it. whats most accurate will depend on your particular rifle.

I agree but have not tried it on rabbit. Makes great plinking ammo. I find it soda can accurate to 70-90 meters. Everything past that is dicey.

Is there any place I can buy spare magazines?

Cheapest is straight from hi-point. They have links on their forum.

I've used 115gr WWB, Remington 115gr JHP, Hornaday TAP 124gr JHP, S&B FMJ (I forget the weight) and a smattering of others in mine, all with good results.

It feeds, fires and ejects anything I want it to. I can reliably hit a soda can at 50 or 60 yards with any of the brands I listed.
