Bought a couple Hi Point C9s over a decade ago. Never shot them more than a few rounds each. The ramp is part of the fixed barrel on this model. It is also very rough and coated (powder coated?) the same as the barrel. Clearly not a refined job. Surely the ramp can be smoothed. Between the bad ramp angle and it being fixed and rough enough to dig in to a bullet, they need work and I have heard the horror stories of lotsa jams.

I saw a sticky article about ramps being screwed up with a dremel so is there another / better way to clean the ramp?

A dremel with the right diameter cotton bob and Clover fine valve grinding compound will make it shine almost like chrome. Just turn the speed down low and you won't bugger up anything. Out of two C-9s that I have shot neither have jammed with nothing at all done to them. Jacketed or lead hand loads have all been good. Luck of the draw I suppose.

Have you shot these to detemine if they need work or just don't like the looks of them?

Shot only one magazine each. Didn't get a jam but they look rough and I read a lot about their ramp causing issues and it just looks bad enough to make me wonder.

Yeah I own several High Point pistols. They were never an engeneerimg marvel LOL. All the problems with mine not feeding were the fault of the magazines. Misshapen feed lips were always the culprit. Got replacments from HP at no charge and all was well. I use them to introduce new shooters to different calibers. 380, 9MM, 40, 45. They are so heavy recoil is more managable. Once they learn how to shoot the 380 I just hand them a mag and ammo for the next size up and let them load, charge, and fire. Rinse and repeat.
