The path less chosen...
What else would you expect from Americas premier budget firearms maker?
For those of you who arent familiar with Hi-Points,they produce handguns in .380,9x19,.40S&W and 45acp.If youre willing to lay down the extra cash, you can step up to an ultra deluxe compensated race gun model in .380 or 9x19.The latter is the gun i own.Anyway, yesterday i took several guns out blasting (Sub-2000 :D & S&W model 34  )as well as the Hi-Point.As we got a late start,it was already 7:30pm before shooting commenced.Ive never shot the Hi-Point as the sun was going down and therefore never got to see how beautifully the compensator works on this gun.I had wondered how effective it could really be as its quite open compared to other compensators ive seen.WWB was being used, and as a friend fired the beast it was awesome seeing the flames shoot right up throught the compensator as one would expect a well designed comp to do.Those Hi-Points are dreams come true!!!
Hi-Points RRRUUUULLEEEEE!!!!!!!:D

I would like to see a Comp for the 40cal. Along with all of the other goodies HI-Point offers Laser,Light,Etc.:)

interesting...

uhm...thank you for shareing....I might get one some day if I have extra money and can't find a good solar powered flashlight to buy..:neener:

but seriously, I'm sure it is alot of fun....

Mr. Z
I recently got a Hi -point .45
One of their polymers.
I could care less what most people say about them.
I like mine.
I got you to Thank ( always saw your posts )
Had to try one.
Glad I did

Bill

This is the only handgun i own thats compensated/ported.Ive rarely had the opportunity to shoot one as they seem to be rare for the most part.A friend had a ported Witness for a while but i only put a mag or two through it.I think the compensator is the reason everybody is drawn to my Hi-Point when im shooting it.They just automatically assume (and rightly so) that its a clearly superior firearm!

Where's the beef...

So why do so many despise this brand?

they're ugly - ok - some say glocks are too

they're cheap - ok - isnt that a good thing?

Stay away from the low budget ammo and you won't see the pyrotechnics.

Of course, in a Hi-Point, that suggestion may be moot. ;)

Hi-Points have everything I want in a gun, for the right price... almost.

I know I'm a shallow, superficial bimbo, but I cannot get past the ugliness of the things. Just damn! There are ugly guns, and there are UGLY guns. Rugers are ugly, Glocks are ugly, (some say my beloved Makarov is ugly) but I would have any of them. Hi-Points are UGLY (Uuuuuuuuuuggggggly!)

Yuk.

But, one day I may rise above my prejudices, or succumb to my frugal nature, and buy one anyway. Then I can eat my words.

All said, I can truly respect a gun that is well made, reliable, and inexpensive to boot. Enjoy yours!

That might be a way to determine it's effectivenes, but you would have to measure the decrease in recoil forces versus gas flow to determine its efficiency.

Bergeron,

Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe...

"...determine its efficiency in reducing muzzle-flip vis a vis the uncompensated version."

Happy now? ;)
