If I posted this in the wrong spot, feel free to move it. I figured pistol caliber and magazines, might try this here.

What are your opinions of these two, and why would you own one over the other?

Well I owned the hi point, was very very pleased with everything but mag capacity. Haven't owned or even fired the Kel tec but they hold at least twice as much factory, and accept glock mags.

If the Kel tec functions Anything accuracy wise like the hi point then I'd say that's your winner IMO

I had the KT. Really liked the concept and it performed like a champ. It was nearly impossible to install a dot sight tho'. And the fact that some of the major structural parts were plastic concerned me so i sold it and got a HP. Main dislike on the HP is the left side cocking handle.

I have a Hi Point 9mm carbine and a KT Sub 2000 .40 Glock. I like them both and enjoy shooting both. To compare the two is really comparing oranges and tangerines. They are similar but different. :)

the big difference is that you can actually FIND HiPoints to buy ...

try finding a 9mm Glock Sub2K for sale at any retail store. And if you DO find one, it will be for over MSRP.

My HP995 in an ATI stock feels much more solid than my friend's KYSub. The cheek-weld on the KT is horrible, but it does win out on the mag issue.

I looked real hard at the Kel Tech, but purchased a Hp4595. Just watching videos and such I thought the KT looked uncomfortable to shoot, and I don't need the folding stock. Later I bought a Camp 9.

I like seeing people sell the variety of mag capabilities with the Subby, that IMO is it's selling point. Try peddling that folding crap and you'll lose me. Thanks for voting and your opinions folks

I have the Hp 9mm and the 40 sub If I had to chooze one It would be the sub.But mainly because of the mags. The Hp as ugly as it is has better ergos
And the factory sights are better ,accuracy is a wash in my opinion.
The Hp is a fair amount heavier.Mine wife loves the Hp and shoots it fast and well. She does not shoot the sub well due to the cheek weld issue.
Both are fun plinkers.

I think if HP would do their mags a little nicer, or even just use Glock mags, they would have a real winner. It's pleasant to shoot, accurate, comfortable enough, and optics-ready. The mags are my only issue.

I, oddly enough, agree. The Promag 15s are junk. So being relegated to 10 rounders is a bit of a set back.

I too like both....but I think the subby will do everything the hi point will....the same cannot be said about hi point.
The hi point is optics friendly, which I find WAY more useful than the folding option of the Subby. Mount an optic on it, and you've taken away 50% of what the Subby has that the hi point doesn't, the other being the mags it can take.

I do have an optic on a quick release mount if I want to fold it I un latch it and place it on the side rail ....then un fold and put back.....optic friendly stock...no BUT its not hard to make it that wat

I voted for the sub because I like it best of the two options given but after playing with both...AND a Beretta Storm...I ponied up for the Storm. I LOVE that little rifle!

I prefer the Sub-2000, but the hi-points are good. I think the .45 version is worth it because you can modify large capacity 1911 mags to fit it.

SUB 2k by far... biggest reason is you can get way better mags for the sub 2k its also easier to clean and dosnt look like a planet of the apes gun

I wish i could find a Sub2000 Glock 9mm. I've owned a Hi-Point for about 15 years, haven't shot it in probably 6 or 7 years, but it always went bang when i pulled the mushy trigger. As mentioned, lack of hi capacity mags is the biggest turn off IMO.
