For a reasonable price? I'd prefer an actual factory Browning/FN slide.
How hard is it to fit yourself, or should I send them to a gunsmith to work over?

For the curious;
I bought a .40 Hi Power, intending to convert it to 9mm, because the shop owner told me that 9mm Hi Powers would come apart if shot with +p. Later, I was told by a very knowledgeable Hi Power owner that a heavier strength spring would be fine.
Well, the .40 is nice, but it doesn't have the same "graceful" feel of the original 9mm Hi Powers, because the slide is built up heavier to stand up to .40's abuse.

Off topic, has anyone tried the micarta grips Brownells carries? I want a set of grips thinner than the Pachmyars that came on the pistol.

ETA, another kind of off topic question. Are the 15 and 17 round magazines that are available reliable?

Hello. Though I have not personally checked in a couple of years, it is my understanding that Browning Arms will sell a slide but its cost is extremely high, as in several hundred dollars! One might check the classified sections at various gun sites as well as gun auctions and might check with those businesses dealing in surplus parts and guns.

Best and good luck.
