High Point A Cheap Unreliable Gun?

Idk about the smaller calibers, but the .45's have an excellent reputation for reliability and surprisingly, accuracy. If it doesn't work send it back free again and again until its right.

Mine's given me at least 1,100 trouble-free rounds. Now I have an extractor problem, but the warranty will cover me. That's more than I can say for my Ford or my buddy's Smith&Wesson.

Now that I know I like shooting, I'm debating whether to get a Rock Island M1911 (sweet pistol, shot one the other day and loved it) or a Taurus 357 Magnum. I could go with either- I really do want to maintain ammo standardization, and I do love my autoloaders. GF wants a wheelgun too, but she also loves the HP and the CZ-52 and the Rock Island.

So, High Road, Hi-point and Moisin-Nagant have gotten me into shooting. If I sell my Hi-Point, it will be to buy a 1911. But if I sell my CZ first, I'm keeping that JHP. (I like standardization, and a 7.62mm rifle/pistol combo is cool), and if I keep the HP, I'll probably get a 1911 (because who really wants to buy four different kinds of ammo?)

Makes me want to buy a 9mm HP just as a beater... I just wish they werent so dang Fugly

The Video thanks for Irak Veteran. He is great!
No doubt HPs can be reliable specially if well maintained. At least we know they are indestructible!
I am kind of a glock guy but even glocks will jam once in a while and preventive maintenance is something you must do with any system, specially the one you carry. Yesterday at defensive shooting practice my buddy told me he got the first 2 jams in a row with the Glock 23 and I asked... When is the last time you cleaned the pistol? he said: Never! It has 3K rounds and the first Jam. LOL! I said go and get it cleaned you filthy pig!
I think that preventive maintenance and tuning is possible with any system and I would not discard a high point in a given situation.

Even bows and arrows need maintenance too. LOL!

Cheers,
E.

They are block ugly... What was that pistol on TOP SHOT? It was even more Lego that the HP

More Hi Points

I'm sorry but the only way I would carry any Hi-Point would be for it to:
1-Be wrapped in burlap so nobody who carries professionally would see what I had.
2-Be empty so there would be no ADs when I used it for what it is good for...to slap a bad guy upside the head with.
3-Be used as a backup only for the big rock in my other hand.

Nice things said about those pistols are only an attempt to put bondo on a buffalo's backside.

an attempt to put bondo on a buffalo's backside.

LOL. have you tried to put bondo on a buffalo's backside? How do you approach it? I thought that was funny.

I like the early comment that someone thought it would make a great "toolbox gun". Hey, better than nothing and then in a pinch you can use it to hammer some nails like they do in the videos.

But seriously, I hear you. I am a glock guy myself but I though the videos from Irak Veteran where fun.

I cannot believe it didn't blow up with the red pills and the bolt hammered half the way the barrel. Everyone is so worry about getting a squib, well that's nothing compared to that!

I dunno... I mean, if we're going to chalk it up to athetics, i really don't see what a glock has over an hp. Seriously, they're both black plastic blricks and somehow the same people who love the way their glock looks hate these guns.

Just not seeing the difference personally. I will admit to liking the .380's racing stripe tho :p

Panzercat,
One thing is to say the HPs are really nice and I really got a quick of IrakVeteran's videos with this indestructible pistols but lets not get into the business of comparing apples with oranges.

I will be buying a HP for fun and might even carry one one day here and there in a pinch but I am not going to ditch my glocks, that I can assure you.

I am not interested into hearing why I should carry the HP vs the glock all the time so anyone save the energy if you want to reply.

Think how many LEO's carry a high point vs a glock and why.

Again, as I said I didn't think much about the HPs until I saw the videos and that changed my opinion. They are really hardy that is for sure.

Cheers,
E.
