Anybody here have any experience working on a High Standard DM101 22 Magnum Derringer? I have one that apparently does not rotate (or cam) the firing pin from one barrel to the next. If you have experience or know of someone online and can point me in a good direction, thanks!

Has that just started or has it always been that way as long as you have had it? Has it been apart that you know of?

It sounds like a part called the actuator is missing, bent or broken. It is a long arm that moves the ratchet to alternate barrels firing.

Unless you have some experience, I am not going to suggest a DIY fix; those little guns are tricky and removing the sideplate is all too often a prelude to hunting missing parts.

I appreciate the reply, a fair amount of folks have been pointing towards the little nylon "gear" referred to as the ratchet, but I will examine the actuator as well. I only recently acquired this one, so am not sure of the history. (Heck, this may be why I acquired it, but I hope that's not the case...)

Frankly, I am not certain that I have or don't have the experience to work on this little guy, I have tuned S&W and Ruger actions, built AR's and 1911s, both from bare, unfitted frames/lower-upper sets and done a few Glocks, M&Ps and what-not, but there was a point in time (some, even before the internet!) that I had not touched one of those, either. So I'll approach this as I have those, arm myself with as much knowledge as I can, make sure I have good light, tools and knee-pads (for crawling around, looking for tiny lost widgets... :uhoh: ) Wish me luck and if anyone knows of a parts source (besides Numrich), let me know!
