Would it be highly inappropriate to have a parkerized finish put on a Hamden High Standard Model 106 Military Supermatic Trophy (fluted barrel)? The origninal blued finish is pretty worn. I just think it would look very nice on this gun. Sacrilege?

Only to a collector, and they want 95% to 100% original finish. Apparently your gun is way past that. So far as that's concerned, the company Parkerized some guns themselves. I would go ahead and refinish it the way you want.

Now if it had a substantial amount of the original finish that would be something else again.

One side note: If you bead-blast the gun prior to refinishing it (as you should) be sure to tape the breechface as well as other places you want to remain smooth. And protect the bore - front and back - or you could have problems later.

I'm pretty sure the 10X pistols were park'd...so there's some 'historical validity' to the finish.

Pretty worn could mean different things to different people, but it is your pistol. Unless you intend to sell it later then do as you please. Refinishing of any type will drop collectors value.

I'd have it reblued, if only because most High Standards from the 106 and newer series weren't very well polished before bluing. Some of the older guns were very pretty, and the newer ones could have been—and should have been.
