I have a old model b with the top button takedown, The slide will have to be cut off to repair it. It has been to two gunsmiths with same verdict.

I found a model 103 slide with push button take down from a 60's pistol (on-line), before I buy will it fit ?

Thanks

No, It will not fit and function.

The gunsmiths are idiots or don't want to fool with it. Sometimes it takes a lot of time and effort (perhaps more than they want to spend) and sometimes it is easy but in ny event, the slide can probably be removed without damage to gun or slide.

Is the takedown lever on theright side of the frame present and functioning?

Parts taken off

every part that could come off has been taken off. Slide lock, takedown lever The top button was jammed when I got it. the slide will not come off, it appears the hammer and /or the hammer spring is what is holding the slide. I tried making some tools to depress whatever is locking it up with no success. So far the only thing damaged is what ever held the takedown lever in.

The factory advised the slide cut off idea. they also advised to try to locate a older top botton style slide for a replacement.

Thanks for your help

The takedown lever can be forced out but is not supposed to be removed.

The slide can most likely stil be removed without damage by someone who will fiddle with it long enough. I just diid this for a Model HA which is a little more difficult since the hammer was in the way.

I sugest you contact Bob Shea to see is he will help you. Bob is a master gunsmith who assembled and repaired guns at the old company in Connecticut from the early 1940's through 1984. Last May he confirmed that he still maintained his FFL and was working on High Stadanards from time to time.
