I just purchased a High Standard Sentinel MkI, missing the cylinder and crane. My question is, will one of the earlier model cylinders fit this revolver? I have seen several of the "R" series listed but can not find an MKI.

Thanks, the fact that the other models won't fit is what I needed to know, the friend I got it from said it's "around the house somewhere" hopefully he'll find it.All I can tell you is that the cylinders from the R-100, R-101, and R-102 series Sentinels will not work in your gun, because those cylinders had small drilled holes in the cylinder for the hand to engage instead of a conventional ratchet.
This is a good article on the whole Sentinel range: https://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Sentinel/sentinel.html
Fitting a cylinder and getting the timing correct (the alignment of each firing chamber with the barrel) is often a job for a gunsmith.
4 inch approx, haven't really measured it.I have a Mark IV.and can only say what was said before. Parts are like hens teeth. Just out of curiosity, what barrel length?
Yes, there are several on ebay also, but it's the same. On one of the earlier threads a gentleman said he was able to modify an R101 cylinder assembly by simply shortening the ejector rod, but then one of the guys above said the cylinder is totally different. I've worked on Smiths, Taurus, Ruger, H&R, etc, but this is my first experience with the Sentinel, the MK1 is totally different from the earlier models that I have parts for (no cylinders), which look like German Armenius revolvers.I did a search for Sentinel Cylinder on GunBroker.com. There were at least eight of them, but most of them were from the early models like the R-101.
I seldom shoot DA unless it's an emergency, then I expect it to be a snake (crawling or 2 legged) very close.Nice. Mines the two inch. Wish I had the three. Wait until you experience the horrible D/A trigger. There's a thread or two about that here.
