So I recently found out about the Aguilla Mini 12 gauge shells. These things are 1 3/4 instead of 2 3/4 to increase capacity on pump shotguns. The manufacturer says they work best in Winchester 1300's and I a just curious, what is the highest manufactured or aftermarket extension for that series? It seems that an 8 shot equates to a 12 shot. I want to find out if it can get higher :D

The longest FACTORY one I'm aware of is the Defender series, 8 shot. However, you might find someone who makes an extra-long extension for the STANDARD tube/barrel setup that would increase capacity further. MGW sells a 10-shot one, for example (10 shots total).

Tac-star makes a "+5" extension.

So does Choate

On the subject, if you know anyone selling a magazine tube for the 8 shot defender, please let me know. I'm trying to build up a 3-gun shotgun in 20 gauge for my boys. Both 12 and 20 use the same tube BTW.

Thank you so much for the information!
I am sorry, I don't know anyone selling one. Sounds like its going to be a great gun for your sons though! :)

Don't bet your life on the Aguila minishells working, until you've fired enough of them in the shotgun you intend to use them in to be sure they feed/chamber/fire/extract/eject 100% reliably. Less than 99% reliability is a no go.

There's a newer Nobel Sport short shell that seems to be more reliable in more pumpgun designs than the Aguilas, as it's a bit longer - but even so, the same warning applies.

I always viewed the mini shells as more of a novelty than anything else.

Yep, I purchased some years ago and the entire time I had them I only fired two of them and put them in a cabinet where they sat for about ten years. I gave them away about two months ago.

Winchesters are generally know to handle the mini shells better than most.
The highest cap 1300 is the defender. It has a mag tube that runs to the end of the 18" barrel which gives you 7+1 capacity using 2 3/4" shells. Bolt an extension onto that and you would have yourself an evil shotgun machinegun thing.

Except you would have a long extension hanging out past your muzzle looking goofy. And since the only 1300 barrels made to fit the 8 shot tube are the 18" ones you can't get a longer one to clamp the extension to.
However you can use a 28" hunting barrel with the lug at the 4 shot position on the 8-shot tube. You would need a spacer behind the extension though.

Looks don't matter, it's how well it works, If people bought only for looks then no one would own a Glock/Etc.

That's not true and you know it. People very much care how their guns look. It may not be the end all be all final point in deciding which gun to buy and how to customize it, but people take looks into account. Otherwise noone would buy all those magpul stocks and weird spiky AR15 muzzlebrakes or breacher tips for their shotguns. All those things are there pretty much just for looks.

And as far as I'm concerned, Glocks are some of the better looking polymer frame semis out there. There's a beauty in simplicity.
