Don't see this one making the mainstream media. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Sixteen Year-Old FL Student Suspended For Disarming Gunman & Saving Students

A sixteen year-old Florida student was suspended this week after disarming a gunmen on a school bus and saving fellow students.
It was against school rules.

A Florida high school student wrestled a loaded gun away from another teen on the bus ride home this week and was slapped with a suspension in return.

The 16-year-old Cypress Lake High student in Fort Myers, Fla. told WFTX-TV there was “no doubt” he saved a life after grappling for the loaded .22 caliber revolver being aimed point-blank at another student on Tuesday.

“I think he was really going to shoot him right then and there,” said the suspended student, not identified by WFTX because of safety concerns. “Not taking no pity.”

The student said the suspect, a football player, threatened to shoot a teammate because he had been arguing with his friend.

I can only hope the parents of the kid who disarmed the other guy will take this chance to sue the ever loving hell out of the school district involved for all their worth based on their child's recurring nightmares and post-traumatic stress that developed after facing a life and death situation, doing the appropriate thing, and then being victimized and villified by an uncaring and negligent system.

(And in an even more perfect world, they'd let me sit on that jury . . .)

Just what the he** has our country come to?.... Police officers shoot 9 innocent civilians and still have jobs and a 16 year old saves multiple lives and is suspended from school.

Some educators are a complete joke, and when reading the texts and lectures that go into creating an educator (I have friends going into the education field), I know exactly where it comes from.... All of this really is pathetic.

Between this and the Boy and the Pop Tart story, it's becoming more difficult by the day to be a proud American. Good lawd, we're doomed...

Pardon?

Can you wait for the rest of the story? Is is one small blurb enough?

The student who disarmed the gunman wasn't arrested, so I have serious doubts as to there being any valid reason for his suspension. Simply being involved in this event as the suspension notice stated is not a valid reason to suspend a student....

I would love to hear the rest of the story, but the more time that goes by, the longer the district has to cover their back-sides with a made up reason that was not even on the books before this incident. Or for them to say, "It was a simple mistake", which to me means that this student was wrongly victimized by a knee jerk reaction to his quick thinking (and life saving) behavior...

Let's look on the bright side; that kid's gonna have all the money he needs for college after some lawyahs get involved on this one :D. Hope it's worth it to those PTA types and their zero-tolerance nonsense.

Those two dimwits in NYC still have their jobs? (not that I'm not suprised). Now, was it the officer shooting while looking away, or the guy shooting his gun sideways that scored the most "points" on that deal? Did we ever hear how many of those shots ended up in the guy five feet away, or are they all supposed to be through-and-throughs ;). Between that incident and the craziness in Ca a couple weeks back--these are hard times for innocent bystanders

The school’s referral slip said he was given an “emergency suspension” for being involved in an “incident” with a weapon.
Well, it's accuracte, at least :D. Talk about a sentence devoid of meaning. I wonder if it's a "suspension" when they simply send a kid home after a traumatizing "incident" (as is likely the motivation here) or if this is truly a punitive measure. I'll assume the former for the time being and not second-guess the district too much.

This kid went against everything liberalism taught him, and decided that his life and those around him was worth protecting.

We have a young, brave wolf among the sheep.

I'm surprised the principle didn't advise the students to urinate on themselves to scare away the active shooter.

My understanding is the student was suspended for insubordination and refusing to cooperate in the investigation. Obviously there is more to the story.
