I am watching the news this morning as usual, I happen to flip over to ABC. Lisa Stark is reporting on the new hijacking warnings and she states that the hijackers might even be planning to use "cameras disguised as weapons"!!! The gall. They will be smuggling what you thought was a Glock on board only to find out that they really have a Minolta and they take your picture! What will they stoop too next? These terrorists are not a threat to be taken light heartedly.

Camera guns

Yeah, likely story --- I know people that like to shoot a few pictures, and there are even those that like to shoot a whole roll (often Japanese with high cap cameras)! And what out for the large bore 35mm types - they are especially threatening.

"Excuse me Captain, could I take your picture next to the cute stewardess?"

Haha! Good grief...that sounds like our local news bimbo. She always gets anything like that mixed up. Funny stuff.

"Do you have any cameras on you sir?"

"Uh no" *darting eyes* "Just this rpg and MP5."

"Carry on then."

"Whew..."

The KGB did actually manufacture a camera gun. It had a single barrel inside what looked like the lens. It was purely a close range assasination weapon. I remember reading about one high level defector who was terrified of anybody taking his picture. :)

We must ban those fully automatic self-winding assault cameras.
Are you CRAZY, Tallpine?:what:

We won't BAN them... we will just make it illegal for any "auto-winding" camera to have over 10 pictures per roll of film!;) Of course older film like 24 or 36 exposure rolls is OK as long as it is pre-ban film.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

Of course we all know things like that exist. You do see how the anchor's original statement was mixed up though, right?

A couple of guys posing as reporters assasinated a Taliban guy (or was it a Northern Alliance guy?) a while back too. They had explosives inside a video camera. It was a suicide bombing of course.

I believe that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) is preparing legislation to limit high capacity film cartridges (those holding more than 12 exposures) to military and law enforcement use only.

My understanding is that she said something like,

"I cannot imagine any legitimate civilian use for a film cartridge that holds more than 12 exposures. Clearly the average homeowner can easily change film cartridges if he/she wants to take more pictures."

...now I am not sure that I was totally sober (it's hard to read the newspaper when you are sober) when I read this, so I may have gotten soem of it wrong, so please don;t hold me to it!!! :neener:

While you're at it, don't forget to ban telephoto "sniper" lenses, wide-angle "streetsweeper" lenses, CCW(Concealed Camera Wearing), and high-speed film, too.

You camera nuts, always insisting that your precious First Amendment allows you to own an Evil Black Plastic High Capacity Automatic Film Advance Assault Camera. These devices have No Legitimate Photographic Purpose. They exist only to allow the average person to shoot many photographs in a short time.

what gets me are the items they are banning from flights because they consider them a "potencial deadly weapon"

My roomate just got back from a trip to Vegas and had his cudical scissors. "confiscated"
She said.. "sir you can't take these onboard".. he said "fine I'll just give them to my friend who brought me.. he's right over there". "Oh no sir, you can't touch them." :what:

He said he was laughing inside because up until she said that he didn't have any incling to stab her with them.

Appherently there has been a rash of attacks with tiny half inch bladed scissors.

My God people!! what an insult towards each and everyone of us, to say that nail clippers and tiny scissors are a deadly weapon!!??
I'd like to see someone threaten me with them.

I'm trying to find a 35 - 70mm f2.0 lens for my M44 - Is this the appropriate place to post this?

What don't your cameras have a bayonet-mount lens?

It was and is a standard feauture on many.

I tried to put one of them (soon to be banned) "flash suppressors" on my (soon to be banned) Black Synthetic High Speed Full-Auto Zooming Assault Camera - and all my pictures turned out kinda dark...

I guess we will need a special "Class-3" license to take pictures in low light conditions!

What about those eeeeeevvvvviiiilllllll digital cameras with the CD writers in them, capable of producing very small high-speed photos (smaller than 1MB, almost 1000:what: per CD) or producing a few very large photos (over 10MB:eek: )! There could be chaos with these variable-size photo-taking machines, the quick and huge photos coming at you or many small photos all in succession! Think of the havoc! Think of the ccchhhhhiiiilllllldddddreeeeennnnnnn!!!!!!!!

:neener:

A Mamiya RB 67 mounted on a tripod makes for a terrific weapon. Heavy as a boat anchor. I wonder if they'll go after those?

well crap....my digital has zoom(sniper) wide angle (streetsweeper) and high spped.....is it like the awb no more than 2 evils per camera???? if so i better go chunk it into the river fast.

and dont ya know how America is supsosd to work??? if something is broken, make a new law. If something isnt broken, make some absurd law

Good thing I haven't used any of my "arsenal" lately.....

(I've probably forgotten how......:uhoh: )
