While parked in Carlisle, PA last evening, caught a fascinating interview with Dick Morris on one of the local Jesus channels. Morris was touting his new book, Because He Could, about Bill Clinton. It's a tell-all about Clinton's personal issues that, among other things, led him to cancel CIA plans to kidnap Osama Bin Laden because if they killed him, he (Clinton) might look bad. He was so concerned with his image and politics, that while governor of Arkansas, he planned to divorce Hillary, and actually had Morris commission a poll on the likely effect of a divorce on his plans to run for President. Guess what the poll results were? :barf:

Of more import, Morris presented some insights into Hillary's plans to run for President in '08: He believes she won't run for her Senate seat again in '06, because she would have to face Rudy Guilliani, who is enormously popular in NYC. She would have to spend about $35M to retain her seat, with the outcome by no means assured. If she runs and loses, she can kiss the nomination good-by. She currently says "Of course" she'll run again, but if she doesn't, we can bet she's saving up for the big show. :scrutiny:

That is, if the Dem's haven't wised up that an ultraliberal ultrafeminist from New York is unelectable!

I think Obama has a better chance of being the Democrat candidate in '08.
If he stays politically active and does a bunch of baby kissin, he'll probably have a great shot at the nomination.

I'll be voting Libertarian again.

Im a lot more worried about who the Rebublicans run in '08 than the Dems. I can just imagine McCain or some other [insert appropriate expletive] person who i couldnt even stomach voting for.

My biggest fear is that the RNC will completely ignore what this election just loudly stated. More than likely they will decide to run Guilliani, McCain, or some other complete RINO, they exact opposite of what the country just announced they wanted as a leader :( .

It completely baffles me how the Republicans can time & time again rip defeat from the jaws of victory :banghead: .

Playing Devil's advocate here (at least, Dem campaign consultant)

I wouldn't run Obama in '08. He wouldn't have even fhave finished a single term in the Senate at that point. Also, given that no Senator has moved into the White House since Kennedy in 1960, if I were him and looking at becoming Pres, I'd work at becoming governor of Illinois first.

Juding from his bit in the concession speech, Edwards will be running again, or at least trying to. But he doesn't hold any office after January, and I don't see NC voters electing him to one.

Best bet for the GOP in '08 at this point might be Rick Owens of Colorado.

If you voted for Bush, what is your complaint with McCain?

McCains most heinous idea, Campaign Finance Reform, was already signed into law by Bush.

I don't think the country announced what they wanted, just what they didn't want. 51% don't want an ultra-liberal yankee senator with a condescending attitutude... not exactly a mandate.

If the Dems nominate Hillary, let the Repubs nominate Condoleeza Rice. A white, liberal, tax-and-spend woman versus a black, conservative, truly brilliant woman... bring it on! :D

If there had been a landslide like Reagan's vs Mondale or Bush Sr. vs Dukakis I might agree with you, but the country nearly (within what, two percentage points or so) split down the middle between a conservative Republican and a liberal Democrat. To me, the country has announced that they'd really prefer a moderate from one party or the other, and a RINO probably has a better shot than a Semicrat.

You know what they say about "great minds think alike" I was just talking with my father last week about who the GOP would run against Hillary. My first choice would be Condi my second choice would be Elizabeth Dole. From what I have seen Senator Dole is not really all the conservative, but my fear if Hillary runs is the fact that many women would vote for her just because she is woman and they want to see a woman in the Whitehouse. I would be very concerned if the GOP ran a man against Hillary.

The Dems last two candidates were left over 60's protestors. If they run a third next time, the result will be the same. If they can read the demographics, they'll run a more mainstream candidate. But they probably won't get the message and run another liberal wacko.

Historically, executives win the White House. That's a governor, or more rarely a vice president. It's been 44 years since a legislator has won (JFK).

If Cheney resigned in one to two years, and Rice was put in to replace him, then she would be a good candidate. Without that executive experience and credibility, I doubt she would do as well as some here think she would.

That depends on who the Democrats run of course. If they run a legislator again (ie Hillery), then it becomes more of a contest. I do hope they run Hillery, she'd be an even worse candidate then Kerry.

America isn't dumb enough to elect Shillary Snopes Clinton.
LOL! Now that is foresight. Do you have any more of these for other Democrats? I would love to hear some more.

Standing Wolf, I'm starting to think that anything you repeat enough will come true, so could you start adding "Azrael256 will win a million dollars" to the end of your posts?
