Went to the store yesterday and picked up two new guns, Two-tone Firestorms, one a .380, and the other the new Mini .45.

For two fairly inexpensive guns, they just feel SOOO good in my hand. The ergonomics is great!

The .380 is going to be my wife's carry gun. I know there are 9mm that are smaller, and that the kick on a blow-back .380 is supposed to be worse than a 9mm, but, my wife likes it. We tried the Walther, we tried the Sig, and the Bersa and Firestorms just felt the best to her.

The .45 is going to be mine, and I think it will make a pretty fair carry gun. It's thicker than the .380(duh) but still fairly compact. Once again, the ergonomics are great...the safety and magazine release are well positioned. That being said, I haven't actually tried the .45 yet, but if it is as nice as the Mini-40's well....I think I'll be okay with it.

And there is just something about that .45 caliber muzzle on that tiny of a gun...

I'll have to post again when I actually get a chance to go to the range and use them...

I'm open for ammo suggestions. Right now for the .45, I'm going to see how it handles Winchester 185gr Silvertips.

My plans for the .380 are the 90gr Federal Hydra-Shok's. I'm open to other suggestions, that's just all that the Evil Empire(Wal-mart) had in stock yesterday.

Thanks!

Greg

priv8tr,

The Bersa/Firestorm Mini .45 is very high on my list, too...I just haven't been able to find them yet!

This is the third report I've gotten, and all so far have been positive.

Curious: How much did you pay out the door for the .45?

If I recall...

Without digging out the receipt, I gonna say it cost me about $353, before taxes. Here in the fine state of Washington, taxes added about another 30 bucks

As for not seeing one yet, I went to the store undecided between a Ruger P-97, or an EAA Witness. The store owner asked if I had thought about a Mini .45. I wasn't even aware they had been released yet, and decided on the Firestorm sight unseen based on my experiences with the Mini .40.

It was only about $30-40 cheaper than the other two choices, but it just feels so much better to me.

Hey, congrats on your purchase for your wife and yourself. My BERSA .380 shoots everything perfectly (so far) at the range, including the hydra-shock you mentioned.

The local Wally World stocks the Winchester Winclean, and that seems to shoot pretty decent. I've also put the Federal American Eagle (red box), Remington UMC, and PMC ammo through it without a single problem....about 800 to 850 rounds now.

AND, that's with me getting lazy cleaning the gun.

I know, I know.....I'll go clean it right now!

makdaddy',

I think the Mini .45 he is referring to is the new DA/SA model from Bersa of Argentina, rather than the pseudo-1911s from Llama of Spain.

FWIW, I have always had good service from Bersa handguns.

Yes I know about the 45acp I have one myself. Its for sale. Point of impact 1ft low and to the right. AIM really high.:neener:

Hey, Prv8ter --

If you don't mind my asking, what gunshop(s) do you go to around Poulsbo? I live nearby in Kingston, but haven't really checked out the local shops (work in Seattle, so go to some Seattle shops, and down to Bullseye in Tacoma).

Do any of the local shops have good gunsmiths??

Regards,
Liam

Not a problem Liam...

The shop I do most of my business with is a little place on the corner or Hostmark and 305 in Poulsbo, called Vancura's.

Owned by a husband and wife team named Mitch and Desira. They used to be a full retail shop, but are pretty much special order only now. They had a lot of folks order guns, and then never come pick them up. So now, they are retail between 4PM and 6pm, and all day Saturday.

The best thing is, Mitch is pretty good gunsmith, from what I understand. His racks are always full of guns waiting to be worked on. Now, that could just be a case of him being the only gunsmith around, but, they are pretty good folks.

If you need better directions, just ask.
