Not sure where to post this because I believe they apply to a bunch of different HiviZ fiber optic sights on handguns and rifles.
Was browsing hiviz's site to order an extra light pipe or two. When I went to select options there are now 3 additional type options. The the original colors for a buck (red,green,white) and now there is a luminous option in each color for 4 bucks a rod. Said what the hell is that? Looked around their site a bit more and apparently it is their fiber optic with a but of luminous material in the center (assuming phosphorus) . This can be charged with a flash light for 1 minute and it will glow for 15 min. Assuming if you charged it for a but like phosphorus paint ,you could get it to glow for a couple of hours. Pretty neat if you as me. Not a direct replacement for night sights. But would be a very cheap alternative to people already running finer optics on hunting guns. Give it a charge before you leave the house in the morning and it'll glow until the sun comes up,than take advantage of the fiber optic in sunlight. Assuming sunlight would charge it at that point ,so now it's charged for sunset and untill the end of hunting hours.think I might order up a few to try out.
