Like the topic says.
Are plastic Promags any good at all?
40 rnd mags for a HK93 at $15 just sounds too good to be true for a mag that works every time.

Yeah I know 40 rnd mags are kinda silly but would like 30 rndrs but those are $80+ each for the steel ones.

Thanks

ps. If anyone has a link to a better mag at a good price let me know. Also looking for a vest dedicated to the HK91 as I already have some REAL HK 40 and 20 rounders. Worst case I'll use a maxpedition to haul them around but far from ideal..

Promag makes nothing but junk. Their whole business model is based on uninformed consumers buying their products simply because they don't know any better.

Have had very bad experience with anything made by ProMag.
Wife constructed on a commercial sewing machine my specialty vest for HK-91; it has three magazine pockets, a pouch for a hydration pack on the back, a special fitted pocket for an A-3 stock on the back next to the hydro pocket, several extra pouches for binocs, gloves, tools, and a pistol holster that is MOLLE connected.

Thanks for the promag help, for that price I figured they were as about as good as USA mags and thats not good at all. Pays to ask and now I know, I almost bought one to test it. Not now!

Nice idea on the vest. Might get my friend that sews heavy nylon fabric for cavers outfits to whip up custom one for me.

Last mag purchase was some 40 rounders stamped HK and they were $21? Wish I bought many more as they are nice, but too long to shoot prone.

Those 40 roundsers are super mags for the HK93, use roll over prone (cant a little but keep your eyes 90 degrees to the top of barrel)

Thanks Gordon. Yeah I have worked out a few solid ways to use them beside logs and over street curbs and such. It made me develop a tiny muscle in my shoulder I don't use much. Whatever get the bullet on target is a winner

Never knew they were called supermags, thanks.

Those 40 roundsers are super mags for the HK93,

I though they were the "standard" mag for the HK93, can't actually recall ever seeing anything smaller for them (ignoring aftermarket garbage) , but then the HK93 was never particularly common around here, even back when the HK91 were ~$500

I have half a dozen of the 20 rounders from HK still packed in the paper and they are painted from the factory in a woodland camo drab. These were bought in the 70s.

The supermags was bought last year and are flat black.

They why on God's earth are you considering Pro-Mags? Twenty rounders are hard to beat for prone, even in an AR. But in any event, I've never seen an HK93 twenty round magazine which sure doesn't mean they don't exist.

Well Wally I can't for the life of me even find any 20 rounders and I have been looking for 10 years or more. Last time I saw any on the market tey looked like they been run over by a tractor.

As far as the promags go I have never used them before but had some guy at the gun show tell me they made all the plastic mags for the gun makers but I never saw a gun sold with a plastic mag. I let him keep his pile of mags. But today I got a flyer that had promags on sale for many type rifles. I thought it best to come here before and ask before I bought one.

Made that mistake once with USA mags and my buddy with a mini 14 like mine made the same mistale with the Triple K mags. He got so mad at those TripleK mags he gave them all to me. So now I have a load of 20 year old USA and TripleK mags collecting dust.

I got straight when my uncle sold his mini 14 and found a box full of Ruger brand LE mags of all sizes and gave them to me.

To tell the truth I never cared for the idea of plastic mags, even the ones out now for the AR. But I'm fond of wood stocks with blued steel and metal mags anyway. Only plastic guns I have are the HKs in 5.56 and 7.62.

I swore off ProMag stuff years ago since everything of theirs that I ever used was just about worthless.
I relented about a year ago and purchased one of their 12 round drums for the Saiga 12 after reading some positive reviews and I've gotta say that it works very well.

Understand that this isn't a blanket recommendation, EVERYTHING else I've ever touched from them was lousy, but it's at least possible that they're moving forward on the quality front.

Promag, never again. The only way they really stay afloat is selling to people who don't know any better. I would think they would do like Hyundai and try and improve them.

"HK-93 ProMag mags - Anygood?" :barf::barf::barf:
