i traded for a hk94 a few months back and it came with a offset sight mount (a single ring) that mounts on the end of the cocking tube. the ring when fitted sat to the left of the tube at 10 o'clock. i believe it is a Sure-Fire part . i ordered a dust cap to go on the end of the tube, and i want to remove the mount. the front part was easy, it just unscrews. that leaves on the end of the cocking tube just in front of the front sight, what looks like a washer plate. there's a sleeve that is threaded on the inside (that the sight mount & cap screwed into) i don't know how to remove this thing. does anyone know the trick to getting this thing off. i have seen this mount on other h&k's so i figure someone must have experience with this. any help would sure be appreciated. thanks

photos of the problem

i thought i'd post some photos so it would be easier to see what i'm talking about. 1st photo is the end piece that screwed into the cocking tube and holds the sight ring. 2nd photo is the part on the rifle i want to remove. thanks.

I was expecting to see something different in the photos. I have a laser that mounts similarly to yours except that it doesn't have a "ring." It slips into the front of the cocking support tube and is retained by a set screw through the small hole on the lower right side of the sight tower (just visible in your picture). Not sure about yours though.

thanks for your reply

sounds like a superior setup Bill. if mine had been setup that way i probably would have kept it. mine felt awkward and fragile i always worried about bumping it and it detracted from my enjoyment of the gun. now if i can just get this damn thing off i'll be good to go. i'm sure it has to be something simple, i would just rather know what i'm doing rather than mess something up.

update

i removed the pins in the photo, they just popped out. but there is still a threaded inner sleeve inside the end of the cocking tube as well as the flat washer that held the pins. i have not been able to figure out how to remove these. if anybody knows......
