Recently picked up a HK P30 in 9mm. Wonderful gun, joy to shoot. The only thing that would make it more fun to shoot is if it wasn't so loud. It just so happens, I should be able to take my Osprey home next month. I have having trouble with mounting solutions to the HK P30. This is what I have so far.

1. Locate a threaded HK barrel. HKparts.net says they exist, but no one has seen one.

2. Send my existing barrel off to be extended and threaded. The barrel is numbered to the gun so I prefer to keep it stock.

3. Buy a spare barrel to a P30 or preferably a P30L and send it off to be threaded. This is what I would prefer to do....I can't find one.

4. Buy aftermarket threaded barrel. This would be my second choice, but the only company I found that makes em is EFK Firedragon. And they have a less than stellar reputation. Can anyone find another manufacturer?

Someone please help me shut my P30 up!!!!!!

I just went through this with my P2000 and wound up trading the gun. Mine was chromed and doing a cut & extend job couldn't be done without fear of chipping or peeling the finish on the barrel.

1- The barrels at HK Parts were done by an outside vendor. Those were not threaded at the factory. They were around for a brief stint and they were all sold. No telling if they will ever be offered again.

2- Extending and threading your barrel is definitely an option, albeit maybe a scary one. Replacements aren't cheap.

3- Buying a new barrel and sending it out for threading would be over $400.

4- I think EFK is the only one who offers aftermarket threaded bbls for the new HKs. They have a very spotty reputation. Seems more like a $200+ risk than anything else. I wouldn't consider it a viable option. If the barrel lugs aren't cut right and it gets stuck, you've got big problems. If they don't cut the threads concentric to the bore, your can is going to have big problems.

Good luck! If you're up to a challenge I'd take option number 2. If not, there's option 4, but you'd better have your wallet open. Welcome to the world of HK.

In the end I gave up and wound up with a G19 and a P239 as my suppressor hosts.

I already have a G19 with factory threaded barrel.

As far as threads not being concentric to the bore, this is a .45 Osprey. But I can see where that would come into play if I ever get a dedicated 9mm can. I would be willing to pay the extra cash to prevent the lugs being cut wrong. I hear lots of good things about Tornado Technologies.

Does anyone know who has a P30 or P30L barrel in stock?

The P30 shoots to good to give up on. Plus I think I just bought the last P30 mags on the net. I will be keeping it even if I can't suppress it.

Loud? Shoot an FN 5-7 if you want loud. I don't find the P30 to be any louder than any other 9mm in my arsenal.

I have an efk for my P30.

I had to sand down the chamber for it to work; the chamber was too tight.

This week I put about 200 un-suppressed rounds through it (with the EFK barrel) and didn't have any trouble. But until I sanded it down rounds couldn't extract because it was so tight (had to hit them with a brass rod from the muzzle).

Anyways, you could take the risk. Also there will be couple-several month wait for an EFK.

If I were doing it again I'd go and buy a p30 barrel from hkparts (currently in stock) and send it to tornado tech or adco for threading.

It's going to be a $400+ solution, but you will have your original barrel.

My suppressor is still on its way (nfa seems to be around 8 months right now) so I'm still not sure my EFK solution works.

On the bright side... it is a really attractive set-up.

Duh....Didn't even realize you were talking supressor. Ignore my post above. I guess I needed more Java.
