I handled a P30 for the first time the other day, and I was extremely impressed with it to say the least. It was probably the best, for lack of a better term, "feeling" handgun I have ever held, just awesome.

I have been doing some research on it, but am a little confused by all the triggers available. I handled the V3, and the trigger felt pretty good to be honest, maybe a bit long on the reset.

I have read that the V3 is terrible, and the LEM?? is the way to go?

Anyone willing to break down the triggers available, and explain them to me?

For the record, my favorite handgun, and trigger is the 1911a1...

I'll explain it: one of the best feeling handguns in-the-hand ever, but whatever variant you get the trigger will not be very good at best and just plain stink at worst, and the reset will be long.
Because it says "H&K" on it many just choose to look past that. I owned both the V3 and the LEM before forming my opinion, the LEM was better but still closer to "not horrible" than to "good".

I don't care what brand gun you buy, what caliber, or what trigger system, SRT, DAK, LEM, DAO, etc. NONE will ever match the sweet trigger set up of a single action 1911.

Having said that, there ARE some triggers out there that are better than others. As much of a HK fan that I am, unfortunately, the P30 has one of the worst triggers I've felt on any HK. The LEM is a bit better, especially the "light" LEM, but the SA/DA trigger is just plain bad.

I came across a deal on a P30L that I couldn't resist, and my "new" HK will be finding its way to Bill Springfield after the holidays to work his magic. Bruce Gray also does super work on HK triggers. In its defense, the P30 is marketed as a combat handgun, not a target handgun. Even so, it's tough to feel how bad it is after using their match trigger on their other handguns.

Good luck and happy shooting!

Depends on what you like. I personally like the DA/SA for defense, especially in stressfull situations. Many like the LEM. It is a pre-cocked main spring scenario, whereby the shooter pulls against a lighter tension. The hammer continues backward until it breaks, but the hammer is not under main spring tension.

I don't really have a problem with the trigger pull on a DA/SA P30. Both of mine came with a smooth but long DA pull. The SA breaks differently than my HK45 or HK45c. My worst DA pull on an HK is the HK45. It is awful, yet the SA is very nice. The SA on the HK45 and HK45c breaks well, and have a short reset.

I wish my P30s had the SA pull of the HK45s, and I wish my HK45 has the smoothness of my P30s. For what you pay for an HK, you would think that at least they would make all of trigger without all of the grit feeling.

But then what would Bill Springfield do with all his spare time? Funny, I like the trigger of my HK45 more than my P30L, but neither half as much as my USPs. The hybrid match/LEM trigger is still probably the best overall trigger I've ever used. (Not counting my Les Baer)
