Ive held both in the local shop and while they look similar the p30 is by far more comfortable to hold. Are the grips different or does the VP9 have the exact (with differet texture) same grip as the p30 if the pannels are the same ie both with small pannels, similar to the sig 250/320? The only thing I could think of is the p30 had different pannels on it than the vp9 in the store, but the employee said i couldnt take off the straps to see. The vp9 had a much more pronounced angle.

Thanks

The smallest panels fit flush on the VP9. I put the largest panels on the back strap and the right side, to fill my hand. Did the panels look flush to you on the one you handled? If not it probably had a larger set on it.

You need a punch to pound out the roll pin to change the straps. My pin was a real bitch to get out.

I have the P30-L and my friend just bought the VP-9 (SFP-9 for the rest of the world).
If they both have the same sized backstrap and side panels they feel identical in my hands.
I have very small hands and use the smallest panels all the way around.

The VP-9 has a lighter trigger pull than the P30-L V3 DA/SA in SA mode.
I will be picking up a VP-9 in the near future.

I've got both a VP9 and P30L, and they feel different to me, and they always will due to the differences in the frames. Even with the same panels and backstrap on they'll be close, but different. Couldn't figure it out till a guy on another board posted this picture:

To be honest, I prefer the grip on the P30. While the VP9 is very good, the P30 just feels right.

I just converted my P30L from V3 to a V0 (light LEM, spurred hammer with decocking). While the VP9 trigger is very good, the P30 with light LEM is a very good defensive trigger with that "warm fuzzy" that comes with holstering a gun with a hammer. I'm really liking the V0, as it allows me to decock the LEM and go back to DA (10lb) for practicing, or just relieving the spring tension without dry firing. My only complaint is the reset is kind of long, but I'll probably get that fixed this summer.
