Got on the list to get a HK P30s when my local gun store gets them in in a couple of weeks.

Only heard good things about it. Gonna get .40cal. Any feedback from any of yall about the 9mm P30?

It's Kinda pricey, Right at $900 before tax. Not sure I can talk them down at all *Shrug*

Anyways, I'm pretty excited. I live in Texas and have a CHL and currently carry a S&W 642 Jframe. Looking for something with more bullets and keep the 642 as a BUG and keep it stashed in my Vehicle as I drive a lot for work.

I'm stoked! Merry Christmas to me!

going to be a "bit" of a wait for the 40......trust me.

right now, HK cant even supply us with the 3 9mm mags that LE guns come with, only 2...and we have a big order for a local agency, even a few L models. They wanted the 40 if I recall.....but I think I heard HK laughing on the phone when we asked :D

That's going to be a long wait for the P30 in .40!! Probably mid 2010, but hell, who knows. As for the 9mm version, I can say that I like them quite a bit, I own 2-P30s and 2-P30Ls. I use the P30 for CCW and the P30L for IDPA/USPSA. I believe in having a backup for heavy use weapons.

Yes. I've had mine for about 2 yrs.
I went to the gunstore to buy a Sig Blackwater, I thought they were cool. When I actually held it it felt all wrong in my hand. The reach to the trigger was far, the grip blocky.
The clerk said I should look at the P-30. It was like it was made for my hand. Even though it came with interchangeable grip panels, the stock (medium) was perfect.
It has never had a misfire or jam of any kind right out of the box.
I consider it a Mercedes of firearms. Yes, it was pricey, I think I paid $875, but it is maybe the last gun I'd part with.
I wish it had night sights. The slide release is perfectly placed for my thumb, unlike most.
The mag release, although different, once you use it you'll wish they were all that way.
Take your finger off the trigger and press down on the trigger guard, plink. done!
Extra magazines are expensive as H&K seems to control the market ($48)
Check Davidson's Gallery of Guns online for the price. (I did it through my local gunstore) or check J&G (also Davidson's)
Right now the Sig P-238 is my new best friend, but they have different purposes.

Besides, if it's good enough for Jack Bauer, It's good enough for me!

I checked Davidson's through my local gunstore online and they have 22 in stock for $852. When I bought mine, they overnighted it to the store.

I have one, I like it quite a bit. Mine has the LEM variant trigger, I think if I had to buy it again I would buy with the decocker.

Its a nice gun though no complains, and no problems what-so-ever, never misfired a round.

I had one for a while and IMO the final verdict for me was that it just wasn't what I hoped it would be.
The grip is probably the best available, but that's where the pluses end... The trigger is so-so to bad with a long/crappy/vague reset and the bore axis is on the high side, then, good luck finding mags...

Cool gun, but doesn't do anything a glock, m&p or steyr won't do better (other than maybe the grip).

JMHO. If the trigger was better I'd be giving it praise and recommending that everybody get one.

Hmm Mid 2010 for the .40cal? Store owner(s) said couple of weeks. They seemed pretty sure that they were on their way.

Either way I'm happy with 9mm if that's all they have come buying time.

I originally looking at getting the .40 Cal Walther P99. After handling it and then being shown the P30. I like both of them probably equally as much.

I like the internal hammer on the P99 and that the decocker is a button right there on top. Of course it requires your offhand to push which takes away that "you should be able to access everything on your gun with your shooting hand"

I'm torn between the 2 firearms. I like the Walther P99 and they have it in a .40 cal...But the H&K P30 is pretty sexy as well but is 9mm with features that the P99 doesnt have that I like as well.

Grr! If I had the money, I'd just get them all!

I've had many years of enjoyment with my P7 M10 .It's my main carry gun, It's seen many IPSC matches .many woodchucks have hated it ! .40 is a great round.
Be patient for the 40 P30 it will be worth the wait.

The HK P30, 9mm, with the LEM trigger, is just about the perfect concealed carry pistol in my view. It is without a doubt the most comfortable of the 32 handguns I own. I has proven accurate and 100% reliable. Excellent fit and finish. The trigger is much better than the SIG DAK. It has become my primary carry pistol pending release of the 40S&W version in 1st Quarter 2010 (per the president of HK USA).

You may be waiting quite a while for the 40SW version, probably late next year or so. It's a great gun, very comfortable. I sold mine because I already had a USP9 Elite and a USP9 Expert and at least for me, those two guns have vastly superior triggers to that of the P30. I've been told, however, that Bill Springer can work wonders on the trigger of the P30. Good luck!

Jack Bauer uses an HK USPc 9mm, not a P30
Don't rain on my parade. Jack Bauer changed guns a few times. One year he had a Sig.
(although you're probably right about the USP.) I like the P-30 better.

See, that's it... Grey guns also offers excellent work on H&K's. However, really stinks to have to get a $300 trigger job after paying $900 for a new pistol, just for a decent trigger...

Wish H&K's performance backed up their hype, AND their price-tags... JMHO.

My P30L LEM has one of the worst triggers of any automatic I have ever shot. It breaks cleanly, but the creep and reset distance are unreal. What were H&K thinking?

I just got a HK45 and I am much happier with the trigger on that.

Both fit quite comfortably in my hand once you figure out what inserts to use. Some people prefer using non-matching left and right inserts.

9MM works fine for me and my two favorites would be the H&K-P7 and the CZ-75, not the P30.
