I have always wanted to own Hk pistols, but was always put off by the high price of them. I have owned one Hk pistol so far, a P7 PSP, and it was 100% reliable and extremely accurate. I shot my friend's Hk 45, P30, USP .45 Tactical and P2000 SK, and they were great guns. That has been my Hk experience so far. The P30 impressed me the most. I have never had a pistol feel so comfortable in my hand that it felt perfect.

I am receiving a substantial bonus next summer from my last job, and I am thinking about purchasing 3-4 Hk pistols. I am considering getting the following- Hk 45, Hk 45 compact, P30 LS, and a P2000 SK 9mm.

I am just wondering if these guns are worth the premium that they command? I know that Hk is a top tier manufacturer, and they are very good at what they do.

Like I said, my experience is limited to shooting a couple of mags through various Hk pistols that were owned by friends, and the P7 PSP I used to own, so I would like to hear some opinions about them. Please keep the topic strictly to Hk. If I'm going to buy any pistols with this money, they will be Hk. I'm not interested in any other brands.

Thanks in advance.

IMHO, you have answered your own question. You have shot a number of the most popular types, you found the P30 to fit your hand better than anything else you tried. From what I've seen online, they have top notch support for their guns. The only negatives I see about HK is somebody insisting that they can buy two Ruger or Taurus guns for a the price of a similar HK. If your criteria are that it takes a particular cartridge and goes bang when you pull the trigger, then that's a fair evaluation.

It's your money, so spend it on what makes YOU happy.

HK's don't really cost much more than other maker's guns. If you shop around a bit you can find decent prices. I presently have three USPs and a P30s and have a USC on layaway, so I guess that tells you what I think of their value.:D

The next HK handgun I get will probably be either a P30LS or a USP45 compact tactical. Although an extremely good deal on something else could alter my plans.

The HK45 is a great design, but for me I'm standing pat with my USP45 Tactical. The HK45 has the edge ergonomically but I'm fortunate in that the USP fits my hand very well. The HK45 has a standard rail which is a plus but the USP holds 2 more rounds.

You can find decent deals on HK's, especially if you buy used. That's how I got both my P7M8, and P7 PSP, but that was years ago, and now those are getting expensive due to discontinuation.

I also have the USP Tactical .45, and it is a fine pistol. Very accurate, and soft shooting. Again deals can be found on these if you look around. I do like the new HK45 a lot as it does improve on the blockiness of the USP which I do not really like, but I can live with.

If you like them, they're worth it.

I bought a used P30 recently after years of avoiding HK products, and so far I love it. I'd take it over any competing polymer 9mm any day of the week.

If I hadn't had to spend $1200 keeping my truck running, I might have bought an HK45 this Christmas to keep it company.

To me they are worth the premium, but this is very subjective. I purchased both of mine used (HK45c and PSP) and both deals included multiple magazines. Purchasing new HK magazines can definitely hurt the wallet... My next HK will be the P30, probably in LEM.
