This is a new forum club to chat about 308 semi auto rifles. HK91 HKG3 PTR-91 AR-10 M1A SIAGA FAL CETME and other 308 semi automatic rifles.

Cool. I just bought me a century arms cetme last week. Gotta get the bugs worked out of it though.

yea how is that working out 15guns? I was thinking about getting an Imbel FAL from Atlanticfirearms.com. Any input of that cetme would help me out.

What's everyones' opinion on the new Sig716 coming out? I do not own any Sigs but have heard decent things. The price is amazing considering the other piston .308s out there. And that heavy barrel 16" marksman model..... mmmm shinnney

What's everyones' opinion on the new Sig716 coming out?

An unfortunate route they took in my opinion, there are a bunch of AR style 7.62x51 rifles on the market already. Something along the lines Sig556 scaled up would be much more interesting and offer something really new.

I have lusted after an FAL since about 1982. I still don't have one. I would guess for every two FAL owners there are about 10 people that want, but could never afford one. Its a rifle that has more admirers than owners.

7.62mm.ak47 that century arms gun has been nothing but a nightmare since I got it last week. The magazines won't feed right, one doesn't fight right in the mag well and new my gun jammed after the first shoot today and I can't even get it unjammed. I gotta send it back to century arms. I would never buy another century arms gun. If I had more money to kick around I would of gotten a PTR-91. I heard those are a good quality rifle. They Are like 1200 bucks before taxes though.

Only ones I haven't owned or shot are the HKG3 and PTR-91.

My preference is for the FAL and the Saiga, the only two types I currently own.

Yeah M1key if century arms don't fix my gun right then I'm gonna see if they will refund my money and I'll go buy saiga. I have owned a ak type weapon before but it was in 7.62x39mm. That was the only let down for me was the caliber. Perfect gun otherwise.

IMI Galil SAR … compact, reliable, classic fun.

This thread needs pictures, lots and lots of pictures :D.

Zen.45 how much was that doggie in the window? I wonder if this is the gun I seen on the movie HEAT.

Zen-
Just so you know, i am extremely jealous; that is my "holy grail gun".

I have an Imbel FAL, but would trade it in a heartbeat for a genuine IMI Galil chambered in 7.62!!!

The FAL is a pretty decent rifle for what it is. I prefer the G3 however for ease in optics mounting and just overall simplicity. First FAL I owned was a pre May G1, in excellent condition. The rifle was plenty accurate, just that it would get ungodly hot after a mag or two, so much so that it was hard to hold on to that stamped steel forend. I found it time consuming and frustrating to try to get it properly clean, especially the adjustable gas area around the front sight base.

I just called Century Arms today. They said they sell 100,000 guns a year and don't have the time to go through every gun perfectly to make sure they all work flawlessly. The lady said they will send me a brand new one and check out everything to make sure it works after I send mine in. She said that if I have any problems with the one they will send me to call her right away. See they are taking to make things right. She said they have been in business for like 50 years.

A guy I chatted with on a gun chat room that used to be in special forces air bourne in the army for 9 years said that he prefers the heckler and koch hk91 design. He owns a hk91 with a night vision scope and uses it for hunting. He said he doesn't like FALs.

I have owned the Saiga 308. Loved it, but it I longed for the M1a. Sold the Saiga and got the M1 and would never look back.
My M1a is my only long gun.

Recently finished my Saiga .308 conversion. Other than the ugly furniture, I'm very pleased for the money. I've heard the arguments back and forth about converting saigas or leaving them in factory configuration. I'll just say this, getting rid of that terrible factory fcg is well worth it. The trigger set up on the factory rifles is a real frankenstein job.

(It's the big one)

Own a Century CETME. Took it out and ran 300 rounds of ammo through it with no problems. Loves Magtech and Silver Bear stuff. Had issues with it recently but that was a fault on my part. Used to AR15's and running them wet. Not so much with a CETME or G3. They run dry. That and if one takes a 12 gauge brush to the chamber flutes to help remove any gunk. Sight adjustment takes a bit to get used to but is solid.

Hate the handguard that comes with them though. Heats up after a few mags. I installed a HK wide forearm, which was difficult with the triple frame. There is a small lug on the bottom of the triple frame that can be removed with a dremel tool. after that the handguard can be installed. The aluminum heat shield helps a lot when shooting a bunch of mags.

kmcintosh78 M1AS are great guns just to high for me. Opoche I like your black ak. Send it to me. Lol.

Oh My God iamkris! Your my new best friend. : ) Ha Ha. I like that msar rifle. I holded a real steyr aug at a gun show once and holded one of those msars at a gun shop once. I like the balance of that gun. They are a great balance compared to m-4s. M-4s are barrel heavy.

Today was the first time with an FAL.

The buddy has the action from Argentina and trigger group from elsewhere (L1A1: British).
Have no exact idea where the bullets went in the target (had little time to linger, and don't care), but there was very little recoil with his gas setting.

Other than the very stiff, lousy trigger and being left-handed (kept bumping the safety), it is a wicked, lean battle rifle. The bolt handle is better than that on the G-3s.
'Only' about 70 countries used the FAL as their main battle rifle for many years?

"iamkris" has a nice harem of lusty babes. He taunts us weekly with visions of paradise, and enjoys each chance to tease and torment 'the rabble'.
