Today I bought a Savage 12BVSS in .223 and a new Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x40mm in silver with the new side focus (very cool IMO), with 2 piece leupold bases and leupold rings. Also bought a Harris bipod for it. It has the new accutrigger and its set at a pinch under 2 pounds. Got everything for 1200 out the door. (friend owns a gun shop :neener: )
So... now what? what else could/should I do to this gun? oh and if your wondering I intend to shoot prarie dogs with it.

Ok taking your advice hes aslo bedding it... man i spend more money during the 10 day wait then I do after I buy the gun.

Bump the trigger back up to three pounds? I realize it's not a handgun, but even so, less than 2 pounds just isn't my cup of tea. Yes, I know there's a place for it, but I haven't been there yet. Your intended purpose may come close to that place, but it would still make me nervous.

savage has they're accutriggers adjustable from 1 1/2 to 6lbs so it isnt really a custom trigger job hes adjusting it rather than me... he said that hes made some for people that are about 1lb or less, he bump tested it and it was stable. he didnt reccomend it that low but its comforting to know.
