I recently sold me only 1911 to another THR member. It wasn't that I didn't like the 1911, I simply could not afford to buy another pistol outright....or so my better half believes....but that's nother story. Over the years I've become a revolver guy for the most part. I own pistols primarily for self-defense and plinking....and I just like them. I'm not a target shooter - I realized a few years ago that I simply don't care about being able to punch tiny holes in paper (I care, but got pissed off at my lack of success). I've always been able to hit what I wanted to hit and that will have to do. I can put my shots in COM and I've always been able to eat venison and rabbit, and greatly prefer it to paper. I'm sure the mechanical engineer wannabe SWAT types will feel great angst over that statement...but that's my thought on the subject. The two main semi-auto pistols I've ended up with are the CZ75 and the Sig P220. You load them, and then a day, month, year, later- point them -pull the trigger- they work. No button to push, levers to hold down, no thumb up or down. If the bullet ends up within a few inches of where I intended it to end up, I am happy. The intended goal is accomplished...although it is often not the "one ragged hole". The guy (or person) who wants to kill me doesn't care about "one ragged hole", and whatever I kill doesn't either. If I still feel the need to attempt to make that "one ragged hole", I can always thumb back the hammer when I'm at the range. Anyway, long story short- that is why I like DA/SA autos like the SIG.

Interesting point of view. I think I agree, although the P220 is known for pretty great accuracy itsownself.

It probably isn't up to the Bullseye crowd's standards, but like you, I've found it shoots better than I do.

I agree with the point of your post, but don't sell the P220 short. Mine will shoot 2" at 25 yards with Federal ball. Range sessions are much more enjoyable once your able to make those ragged little holes consistantly.

With that said, I agree completely with your utilitarian "my gun is a tool" type comments.

I didn't mean to imply that the pistol isn't capable of consistantly punching small holes in paper...I'm not...so I chose a pistol that better suits my needs. :)
