OK, I'll step up....25.0 grains under a 55-grain bullet makes a nice plinker. Have shot thousands of them without a problem, just make sure you trim your brass.

Use it all the time for my daughters .223 rifle. I was able to stair step her up in charges with it from a reduced recoil load up to a normal load now shooting 60 Nosler partitions for hunting.

I've never had a problem using H4895 and I'll continue to use it.....when I can find it.

I use it with a 55 grain fmj and soft point and with a 62 grain fmj and soft point. Great results. Started 10% below published loads and worked my way up for both rifles

H4895

H4895 is my "go-to" powder. I luckily bought enough to last a good long time once I found out how much I like it. I use it my 308, my sons 270 (reduced loads for hunting) and in my 223.

I like 25.7 grains of H4895 in a LC case, with WSR primers, pushing a 50 grain Hornady VMax. I am shooting a heavy barrel Weatherby bolt action.

H4895

I have loaded & shot many hundred rounds of 55 FMJBT using 25 grains of IMR 4895.I know the 2 are not equal but very close. For many years the data just said 4895 and some sources say the difference is minimal.I think if you start low and work up, you will end up very close to 25 grains for your projectiles.:)

My H4895 accuracy load in my 14" T.C. Contender is a top end combo, but is clean and consistent in my Contender. Federal case with 26.5gr of H4895, CCI 400 primer and 52gr Nosler Custom Competition bullet. It runs close to 2900fps, and if I do my part, it's easily capable of under 1" at 100 with it's 4x Burris.

IMO 4895 is the "Unique" of rifle powders and can be used in most cartridges.

I have used it in the .223, 30-06, 308, 30-30, 45-70 and a few others too. It works well and delivers accurate rounds in most applications.

I have used IMR4895 for many years and it's my favorite go to powder for military type guns and ammo. I have used H4895 and can't say that I see any difference between them.

Thanks, guys. Great info! Much appreciated.

And ArchAngelCD, I've been thinking about using it as a replacement for H4350 in my .30-06 loads for my '03 Springfield. The H4350 is just a bit too much kick for my taste. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I use h4895 and imr4895 in 5.56. I drop the same charge for both. I can not tell much different between the two. I got some old chrono data between the two that don't show much different.
