I saw one thread with no info on another forum. I've also looked at Hodgdon's site and no mention of it, but it is in almost all of the load charts for 223 Remington and some of the load charts for 308 Winchester. It is also in a smattering of other calibers and bullet weights.

Obviously a new powder coming from Hodgdon's, but no info anywhere. Dang them for teasing us with it by putting it into the load charts already :(

I have heard nothing about a new powder from Hodgdon. Last time Hodgdon released two new powders the information was out before load data. Several gun magazines did write ups even before the powder was commercially available too so I highly doubt Hodgdon is releasing a "secret powder" any time soon. Sounds like an Internet rumor to me. (did you see this on Sniper's Hide?)

Its no rumor...this is copied from Hodgdens online data center....this is 308 Win data.

165 GR. HDY SP---Hodgdon CFE 223 .308" --- 2.750" --- 45.4 gr.--- 2649 fps---46,700 PSI ...48.3 gr.---2839 fps...61,500 PSI

It shows some pretty impressive speed (and the PSI to go with it)...most notable is the 2,582 fps with 200 grain bullets, the 30-06 just lost its advantage.

I stand corrected then. I'm very surprised Hodgdon didn't make a big deal out of this like they did with their Leverevolution and Superformance powders. If the speeds are really that good it might be a specialized off chute of their Superformance powder.

I saw a blurb or add in one of the gun rags about it a while ago.

Can't remember where though.

I was thinking they said it was more for heavy match bullets in .223, so I didn't get all lathered up about it.

They list data for .17 Rem up to .375 Ruger

I saw it in the 22-250 section as well. Extremely fast speeds compared to normal powders like Varget for instance. If you're a velocity addict, it might be what you're looking for.

update: well apparently PV as well as Graf & Sons has the new powder in stock. edit: looks like Midsouth Shooters has it as well.

So much for having to wait till the beginning of the year.

Who is going to give it a try? I'd really like to hear about how well it does with midweight (55 to 62gr) .224 bullets as well as heavy weight (68+) bullets.

I'm sure there are those who would love to hear how well it does in .308 Win/7.62 NATO as well.
