Anyone seen this?

I've been planning to do a guided hog hunt for a couple years now and I just stumbled on this map.

I've never read anything about hogs in Oregon, my home state, but seeing this map, they have to be there somewhere. It's not like there's a fence on the California/Oregon border.

Has anyone hunted hogs in Oregon?

Okay, fixed the link and yeah, they look like their on the southern border. I used to live in that area east of the cascades during college. We never heard of any hogs in the area. But that was 15 years ago too.

Looking at the map,its odd that most of the hogs are in the south east, except for Cal...Why not in Nevada?

I thought the same thing. Nevada may not have enough water for them. But I'm just guessing.

wish we had more areas to hunt wild hogs down here, do have a trail cam with pigs on it, a sow pushing 300lbs but not able to hunt in the area and there only movin at nite.

According to a long conversation I had with an ODFW official one of the problems they have in Oregon is that the hog population is small enough that the hunters who know where they are dont want to share. Its still doing crop damage of course but a lot of farmers also hunt. His belief was that until the population gets larger ODFW wont take much of an interest.

I lived in NV for over 20 years - no food or water. State had to import turkeys to start a small population of those as well. Wide open spaces and lots of other things to hunt. CA has Russian Boars to hunt that can go upwards of 600# though.......

What in the HECK has happened to that map since the last time I clicked on it? Last time, a few weeks ago, it was reasonably accurate. Now Alaska, Utah, Colo, Arizona, Idaho, Montanta, and portions of Canada are all covered up with pigs, but virtually none in OK & TX. Whisky Tango Foxtrot.

Looks like a technical issue. If you zoom in one level you'll see Texas and the south east states almost covered in blue.

Yep, I think that's a fair statement. But I don't think the population density of the people is such that it can prevent it from becoming a problem.

I've been pining over a hunt out of the Redding area with Powder Outfitters for a year or two now but have never pulled the trigger and gone. It might be a good scouting opportunity for public areas in the same region.

Maybe I could plan it on the tail of my vacation in a couple months and bring home some BACON!!!
