I'm finding that I would like to carry a full size pistol like a cz75, but am tired of pulling up my pants. I have a good gun belt from Mitch Rosen.

Do the holsters that have wide attachment points distribute the weight of a heavy pistol enough to help with the pants around the ankle syndrome.

I have a galco summer special for my government model, and the loops are close together. It's ok for short periods of time, but all day means I have to pull my belt in really tight and I have to readjust often.

I carry a 4" Colt Anaconda .44 mag in a leather pancake. The slits are pretty far apart. Far enough apart, that I put my belt thru one slit, then run it thru a belt loop on my hip, and finally run the belt thru the other slit. That method works with both my full sized gun holster and snub pancake, as well.....Of course, you gotta have a belt loop available in the right spot.

Avoid the comfy slick silk Cheeta print boxers. Or the cool slick Patagonia boxers. Haynes cotton/wool boxer briefs will stick to your pants better. If going "commando" solves your pants falling down problem then it's your boxers messing things up for you.

I have the same problem even with awesome quality belts and holsters. I don't mess around with cheap gun gear even if it means not having cable TV for the next few years.

I need to lose 15 pounds or gain 15 pounds for this problem to disappear.

I carry a 1911 in a quality holster on a Beltman 1-1/2" cowhide gunbelt. Light/mag pouch on the offside and a cellphone in a pouch.
Being of middle age and expanding waistline, my gear loves to dive for my ankles unless I tighten the belt to an uncomfortable notch.
My solution is a pair of Perry suspenders. They attach directly to the belt and have been a blessing.

I carry a steel 5" 1911 in a MTAC. The clips are fairly far apart and span over a belt loop. My belt is Wrangler. It is super thick and stiff and until it wears out I'll not be forking over a small fortune on a belt. It works great. Since May I've lost 35 lbs and gotten back into shape after a year of slovenliness. It helps a lot. I can pull my belt tighter and it doesn't hurt.

So yes. A wider weight distribution on the holster will help prevent sagging. Along with a thick, stiff belt and a flatter, firmer torso.

OP: I have the same problem carrying my XD9 for long walks in the Galco summer carry holster. I've switched to carrying my .38 spl til I can afford a good shoulder holster. I'm curious what other answers you get from this thread. Not a big fan of pancake holsters though.

The SS is a good holster, but the Versa Max II style is a lot more comfortable and I believe it stays put better.

I have something like a VMII for my 1911 (except "tuckable"), made by member Joel here, that is comfortable enough that I usually choose it instead of my Speed Scabbard/Pancake OWB rig. I do use a very thick gun belt (made by him as well) that helps tremendously. I don't find myself tugging it up nearly so often.

For me, yes.

I have a <snip> and the loops are close together. It's ok for short periods of time, but all day means I have to pull my belt in really tight and I have to readjust often.

Two things that help me:

1. Cotton boxer briefs. My girlfriend likes them better, they are more comfortable and they seem to help with my pants conundrum when I wear a good belt and holster. No matter how good the holster and belt are, I lost weight and the love handles and rear end just aren't there to help hold my pants up like they used to be.

2. Wilderness style belt. Infinitely adjustable. I really, really love this style belt after a particularly large meal that tends to make me "swell up." My weight has been fluctuating the past few years and it is nice to not have to search for the "sweet spot" with belt holes.

The Wilderness belt is a good suggestion. I'm a leather holster and belt guy usually but I love that belt for carrying my XD45.

I definitely like the wider clips (crossbreed, MTAC) for keeping my pants up. Surprisingly one of the biggest factors for me is adding the mag to the other side of my body. Somehow adding MORE weight keeps my pants up more. Guessing its a better fit with the belt, but who knows ... I'm no scientist!
