It depends a lot on your set-up and how much climbing you intend to do, but I swear by my Safepacker. It sits on my pack belt because I hate having things bounce around on my chest. It is very secure, carries a reload ready to go, and draws quickly. Also, it does not look like a holster, which I prefer. There are various sizes and colors for your pistol and mood, but my two are black.
