I just picked up a S&W 5903 on Friday. Bought it from J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ. A couple questions for folks who own one of these:
1) can anyone recommend a good pancake holster for this gun? Will any 1911 holster work? Handle seem thicker than most 1911's due to the high cap mags.
2) are there any loads you have found to misload more frequently than others?

Thankyou in advance,

My S&W 910 (essentially a value line 5904) fits into all of my SIG P220 holster's. My fav pancake holster is a Roys original. The only problem Roys has been out of business for years. The holsters do pop up on ebay frequently. I have also found the G&G or Bacon ex-LEO pancakes to be top quality holsters for less than $30.

As far as what loads cause a S&W 3rd gen to experience FTE or FTF's...none that I'm aware of;) Mine will eat anything I load into it.

One of our retired Sgts has been making holsters for quite a few years, over 30 that I know of. He made quite a few pancake holsters for S&W autos when we were issued 5904/6904 and earlier generations.
The first holster pictured below is one he made for my Glock. He can do the same for a S&W. He uses very heavy leather. This one has been carried a lot everyday for several years and it still has maintained it's shape and function like when it was new. He's a perfectionist as you can note from the stitching and finish. If it's not exactly right he won't ship it. Turn around time is about a week which includes the mail. Cost is about $40.
If you're interested in having him make one for you then drop me a PM and I'll give you his email address. He'll want to know color and whether you want it plain, border print, basketweave, initials, etc.
The one is in mahagony. The 2nd one is in tan. The 2nd one has actually seen rougher service as I carry it when hunting and it gets drug thru the briars and brush.
