Hello everyoone-

I am leaning toward the S&W 3913 TSW for one of my carry guns. Problem is, I hate the rail! I have read that the rail is removable, but not very easily. So, I need a IWB holster that is very thin (like Uncle Mikes) and that will accomodate this pistol with the rail. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance

A couple of suggestions, if you don't already own the 3913TSW -

Find a pre-rail 3913TSW, or find a pre-TSW 3913. You can often find them NIB.

The new 908S is essentially the old 3913, except with Smith's knock-off of the Novak sight (in plastic). The price is substantially less than a new 3913TSW, and no goofy light rail.

I had the rail taken off of my 4563, all it takes is a few seconds and a drill press to punch out the rivets. Now I can use "normal" holsters. Check with your local smith on a price before you decide, then you can fill the holes with rivets or thread them and put in plug screws if you want. Smith and Wesson will also do it for you, bet the shipping would be more than the work.

I guess you could. One of the guys on my dept. had the rail taken off of his 5906TSW and didn't fill the holes. It's in the holster all the time, so nobody notices. It might let in some more debris if you are out in the dirt (guess that's why they call it a dustcover), but it probably wouldn't hurt. I myself think they look better filled. The finish under the rail of the 5906 and my 4563 was the same as the rest of the gun, and the shape of the frame looks just like a normal gun. At least on the two I've seen, they S&W didn't do anything more or less to the metal of the frame before hanging on the rail, they just hung it on there.
