Can anyone recommend a good holster for field/woods carry of: a Colt King Cobra, six inch barrel; a Redhawk in .44 Mag, 7 (?) inch barrel?
Thanks in advance.

I did some searching for a holster for my S&W M22 and saw some really nice one for $100. They are there, just keep looking.

I came to the conclusion I didn't want a high dollar holster to go tromping thru the woods with, a good sturdy, solid, leather holster would work fine for me. Bought a Hunter holster from Midway.

Couple coats of olive oil and it does perfect. Takes a beating and for $40, can't be beat.

Look to Simply Rugged out of Wasilla AK. www.simplyrugged.com His holsters are meant to hold a large frame revolver and do so with aplomb. As to oiling a holster, I would no more do that than I would, well, oil a holster. Breaks down the designed retention stiffness.

Simply Rugged, Galco, Haugen Handgun Leather and some others all make outstanding holsters. But,for what you are looking for, I would go with Simply Rugged as it is simply rugged.

a good holster

to really enjoy & be satisfied with a holster ,don`t forget a good belt!!
especially with that Redhawk.

I second the recommendation for Rob at Simply Rugged. Highest quality at very reasonable prices....

I keep reading to make sure you get a good belt when you buy a holster. not to sound like an idiot but what makes a belt good? I've really only needed a belt to keep my pants up so what is a good belt for holster wear?
