Holster Wear?

What holster material is harder on a gun, leather or kydex? It seems the choices are all kydex, all leather, or a crossbreed type hybrid. I'm leaning towards getting a hybrid holster for my CZ (polycoat finish) but I'm wondering if this is a good choice? Do all holster types leave wear marks or are some materials worse than others?

Kydex will remove finish from the sharp edges.
Leather will leave marks if sand gets embedded in the grain. Leather holds sweat and moisture.
For a carry gun, get what is comfortable and works.
Its a none issue if your serious about a working gun. If you look at the front sight you won't notice the honest wear.

My experience is kydex is much harder on a blued gun finish.

However, on those hybrid style holsters, the kydex part is molded to the gun while the leather side is not. It seems a lot of those guys are getting more wear on the leather side.

A carry gun is not there to be pretty, it's there to save your life. Holster marks just add character.

But if you want to know, kydex will wear through the finish in streaks and retention rubbing areas, leather will dull and wear the finish in broad flat areas and high points.

I just bought a used CZ100 at the local gun show. Lots of holster wear but the inside was perfect. Shoots great too.

I agree, holster wear = gun character.

I know, holster marks add character. It's just that my new gun is so pretty now. I'm probably just going to get a hybrid for it. The one I use for my LC9 is pretty comfortable, and not expensive either. Thanks for the replies.

And 1 more option...

FIST makes their leather holsters available as "hybrid" also. Theirs are a kydex interior, covered entirely with leather. Works very well for me.

Don't worry about it , as long as it doesn't have rust .

Be very scared of a man that only has one holster worn gun .
