Well, with the NFL pissing me off I am sitting here with nothing to do so I'd thought I'd start another holster post. I was all ready to watch the Eagles and Giants and I just couldn't do it. I am sick and tired of a bunch of overpaid idiots protesting the flag, police etc etc. So sorry for that loss of control now on to my post.

So with nothing to do I started looking for a holster for my Glock 19 and with so many holster companies around I am looking for some advice or recommendations on a holster. My head is spinning with all the options like horse or cowhide, lining or no lining. What is important to have on a leather holster? I currently have a Blackhawk serpa holster and now want a leather holster. I guess the bottom line is what are some good reputable custom holster companies. Not looking for Galco, Don Hume I am looking for the small custom maker. Not that that there is anything wrong with the larger companies like Galco. Thanks

There are many great leather holster makers.
I have an OWB holster from Tucker Gun Leather that is very nice.
Horse hide is well worth the money if you want an IWB.

Holster design and materials are as individual as underwear.

My personal preference is a custom made leather OWB cross draw. I prefer light ornamentation though I do have a few BBQ holsters.

This is my all time favorite. It is made exactly to my specifications.

Here are some of better known makers ...

Mitch Rosen http://mitchrosen.com

Here is a comment from Horseshoe Leather regarding pancake holsters from their holster design page that I've always found interesting...

There is, however, one big disadvantage with this system. Once the weapon is drawn, the curvature of the body pressing against the back wall of the holster, which normally aids weapon retention, now acts in a counter-productive manner and causes the holster to collapse or close up on itself. This can make one-handed re-holstering a bit of a problem -- doubly so when wide-bodied autos such as Glocks and Sigmas are involved!

Anyone have any experience with R Grizzle and the Georgia Snap or any of his holsters? I really like that one and I want a snap I should have stated that earlier. I really wanted a paddle but Ithink I've been talked out of that and the Blackhawk I have came with a paddle but, I opted to use it with the belt backing instead of the paddle. The snap will fit closer so, I'm told. Another company is EP Paso Saddlery they have a few nice ones.
