So I received a super nice IWB black leather holster from a dude online, and it was supposed to fit a Sig P229. Mine has taller tritium sights installed on it, and it will not fit, but the aforementioned supplier guaranteed a perfect fit sans the add on sights.

It turns out that my Taurus PT709 fits absolutely perfectly in this holster. It is so comfortable, my side arm awareness/ pinching etc. noticeably different. It is so much smaller in all dimensions that the Sig, and that doesn't seem to make sense from a marketing point of view.

It seems the only holsters that fit right the first time are the plastic retention versions. The size numbers do not seem to matter too much either. Does everyone else have a backpack of holsters that were supposed to fit something and did not?

I guess I have been lucky with Galco holster systems. The jackass model JR248h fits all my Sigs and the JR212h fits my 1911 and the JR202h fits my Beretta 92FS .

Just got the Kodiak shoulder rig for my .500 S&W last week and so far it feels really good. Haven't taken it out in the field yet but around the house it feels very comfortable and fits the gun perfectly. May want to give them a try. They aren't cheap but they aren't incredibly expensive either.

Sounds to me like you got yourself a dishonest dealer there buddy. Most of these "formed" holsters are perfect fit for STOCK weapons. Anything aftermarket added that will increase the dimensions of the firearm of COURSE will affect the fit.

You said the "aforementioned supplier guaranteed a perfect fit sans the add on sights." Did you mean with the sights? Because sans means without fyi...

Anywho, I've never had any problems with guns fitting holsters they were advertised for. I do however, have a shoebox full of holsters that I don't use very often or discovered I don't like.
