Home invasion cut short

read the blog at the bottom of the news story....

the homeowner posts himself and thanks everybody for their support....

then he goes on to say that after the perp was caught the next night, they learned that he was A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER.

Shocker!
I wonder that some bad guys practice the "I'm sorry, please don't hurt me" defense. I'm amazed the number accounts I've read where the bad guy says, "you don't have the b%#*s to shoot me. I'm going to ..." Bang, as the victim fires into bad guy.

It almost seems the bad guy wanted to be shot. I suspect most people don't want to shoot, untill bad guy taunts them and reminds them of the torture they are in for if they do not.

I was the victim of what is now popularly called "Home Invasion" back in 1980. Let me say that having to witness the gang-rape of your spouse while tied up on the floor is NOT a happy time. I ALREADY KNOW how much physical and metal torture that event causes.

I hope that I am never put in the position of having to fire rounds in anger at another human being. That being said, the uninvited cursed interloper standing at the foot of my bed @ 4:00AM no longer meets the requirements of the human exemption.

Pointing a firearm at someone has nothing whatsoever to do with exercising Second Amendment rights.

Posted by dtown1001: What do you guys think about his strategy: should he have let the guy go or should he have instructed the man to lie down 10 feet away and wait until LE showed up?

So--just what does one do when the subject opts to not comply with said "instruction"?

As ForumSurfer points out, this has been discussed more times than one can count, so I'll simply point out one of the risks attendant to such a strategy: that of being ambushed by the man's accomplice while one is preoccupied with the first subject.

Not a good idea.

Also, as Sam points out, the resident might well have been shot before he ever saw the intruder; as Leanwolf points out, he might wel lhave been disarmed by the intruder. He was lucky.
