Woman shoots, kills 1 of 2 burglars during home invasion in southeast Oak Cliff


One man was killed and another was at large Wednesday after a woman put her father’s lesson in firearms to use during a burglary in southeast Oak Cliff.

“I just hate that she didn’t get both of them,” said Charles Brown, the homeowner.

She waited behind her bed and shot at them when they came in. She did very well. Don't go looking for trouble, wait and let them show their intent.

I can understand why the father said what he said, but it's not right. She used the force necessary to end the threat.

Yep the article said it was not the first time so we can understand his frustration.

How this relates to ST&T: She stayed behind cover, with gun aimed at the entry, ready to defend if necessary. She didn't go running around the house looking for the intruders. A+.

So you don't think she should have "cleared the house" once she understood there was a threat?

I can't get the news article, but the only thing I see lacking is that important 911 call. I'm still too inconsistent about taking my cell to my bedroom when I hit the hay.

Well she obviously called 911 since the police showed up, how soon she called we have no idea. Mind you this was during the day and she was sleeping because she works nights. Her phone may have not been near her, or she may not have had time to call the police.
